I love my Avatar 2x12 NEO

The Avatars do look nice! I was just looking through their site. I really dig the look of the fabric grill cloth and piping ones! Very vintage looking! Dude on TB has one going for 300 right now too.

I got my cab 5 years ago before Dave was offering grill cloth, so any new one that I get will be Tolex and metal grill. I may ask if they can do a grill cloth retrofit sometime down the line cause I do prefer the aesthetic. Or I could see myself may saving up and picking up an Emperor something or other.

5 years ago I only payed $400 for a Tolexed B410NEO. I'm lucky in that I can do will call as the Avatar shop is in Post Falls ID which is about a 20 minute drive away, but prices have significantly increased since 2007.

I keep seeing hubbub between ported and sealed cabs. Maybe I read a comment that Tube amps like sealed cabs better.

Hogwash?

Beyond that,...what are the pros and cons between Ported and Sealed Cabs?

Are the Avatars full range/hi fi/etc, or mid-scooped, or...I've never heard an Avatar cab and have been wondering just what their sound is like.

I don't think they are full range. The drivers are Eminence Delta PROs and they have a tweeter in them which will just be turned off all the time. Mid scooped? Nah,...if anything they are very low end heavy cabs and I'm not sure if that is a result of being ported or just the voicing of the speakers.

Yeah Avatars are definately not mid scooped. Mine cuts through but can really hit hard with my octave pedal on.

It is familiar-ish, not a rip off that i can tell. I think it does remind of something Linkin Park did, although I never willingly listened to them. Radios at work or whatever...
