Nice NPD today Reverb!

Post by SmallEQ »

So far the clips I've heard of the reverb have me intrigued, looking forward to digging into it over the weekend. The aluminum housing on the new pedals is pretty sweet. The reduced size though is really killer.

Nice pedals! How big are they compared to the old soundblox pedals, or other standard size pedals? And how are those footswitches?

They are 4.5" by 4.5"...the old ones were 6" by 7", so these are considerably smaller. Only an inch taller than the standard Hammond enclosure that guys like smallsound/bigsound use for the TAFM.

The footswitches seem fine to me. I believe they are the same as the previous models. I've been using the Multiwave Pro for over 2 years now without issue.

So I got to play around with the pedals this weekend. The reverb is really cool. I did quick video of a riff then turned the riff into a slightly more full formed riff. The recording quality isn't the greatest, but I think you can get the idea.

This was the board I used. My Fuzz and Octaver have been out on a little vacation.

That's awesome. It doesn't exactly sound like it, but that reminded me of the bass in the Beyond the Black Rainbow trailer.

Have you used the soundblox envelope filter? How would you say it compares to the Xero?

I actually beta tested the envelope Pro. I like it a lot but I don't need the advanced functionality for my band. I keep it at home to mess around with for doing fun clips but it takes up too much space on my board to keep it on full time. I actually prefer it as a envelope filter more than the Xero, but for doing manual frequency sweeps with an expression pedal (which is what I need in the band) I think the Xero works better. Mainly they are just different kinds of fun.

I haven't tried it yet and am not sure when I plan to, but you can basically assign the HH (or expresion pedal) to control any specific parameter. In the clip I posted the expression pedal is set to control the time control (the default parameter). One of the cooler things you can set it up to do is to control the send control where the toe up would be no reverb and as you press down you send more and more of the signal into the effected territory.

I like that they're much smaller, but, man, I know it's vain, these things are just so damn ugly!
