v4 Small Stone volume mod?

Post by Officer Bukowski »

Sup guise

I recently picked up a v4 Small Stone (the NYC type with LED) and I'm loving it but I'm starting to notice that it has a bit of a volume drop. From what I've read online, this is a pretty common problem which can be solved by changing the values of two resistors.

So my question is, could somebody point out the resistors that need to be changed for me? The resistors are obscuring the printed labels on the board.

Thanks!

I don't remember off the top of my head which ones it is. Check out colin's info at Experimentalists Anonymous. There's good info on the SStone and SClone.

Thanks I'll check that out.

Have you done this mod? If so, could you comment on how it affects headroom? I've been doing some reading on this subject and I keep reading that this mod leaves you with less headroom.

If that's true, I may just leave it how it is. I really like the way this thing sounds with fuzz, and turning down my fuzz is just not an option. It has a great amount of headroom as it is and that's important to me I wouldn't want to mess that up.

I did that mod once... I remember it being fine as far as headroom, but it does increase the gain going into it.

Here's a schematic that, if I recall, has the right numbers. If not, you'll have to figure it out. : /

Increase R42 to about 10K.
