Jazzmaster CLONE
This just showed up on my local CL. Wanted a Jazzmaster for a while. Anything I should be looking for or questions I should ask? Any feedback would be appreciated. Here is the description;
Partsmaster! I love this guitar dearly and wouldn't dream of selling it if I hadn't realized a Jaguar suits me better. This is effectively a Fender Jazzmaster CLONE built by a local builder out of an assortment of parts. Body is a Jazzmaster body hand-finished in metallic blue. Neck is a maple neck and maple fretboard (yes, odd for a Jazzmaster) from some sort of Squier JM. It has a vintage 7.25" fretboard radius but slightly beefier neck than an exact 1962 replica. The bridge is the real thing, a genuine traditional Jazzmaster floating bridge taken from a Fender AVRI. Pickups are Seymour Duncan "Vintage for Jazzmaster." "Mint green" pickguard. Tremolo unit is from a Fender Classic Player JM (screw-in tremolo arm). Rhythm circuit is from a Fender Japan JM, works great. Just professionally set up, neck, bridge, saddles, tremolo properly adjusted by Dave at Colfax Guitar Shop. Very good condition, some belt buckle wear on the back, as I use this one all the time. It has a Buzz Stop to increase sustain and bridge stability, but that is easily removable with just a Phillips-head screwdriver if you are into that Thurston Moore/Nels Cline behind-the-bridge craziness. If you don't want the Buzz Stop I can remove it and take say another $20 off the price. In my opinion, if you are curious about dipping a toe into the strange world of Jazzmasters but don't want to shell out the $1500 or so for an AVRI or Thin Skin, and your pride isn't hurt by seeing the word Squier on the headstock, this is in my opinion a better sounding, more stable, distinctive-looking, and more playable instrument than the new Classic Players or Blacktops, and much more like a 60s Jazzmaster, at a fraction of the price. Asking $320.

Seems like a decent price if it plays well.

Sounds good and it seems like he knows what he's talking about, which is a good sign. I agree with Kosta's assessment.

sounds like a good one - play it and see!
if the squire logo bothers you, some steel wool and a new waterslide will run you about $20

That's pretty hot. And a pretty good price to boot.

Re: Jazzmaster CLONE
I'd be evil and talk them down at least $75, this economy it's a buyer's market especially on a Squier-necked Partsomaster.
