Vox Pathfinder questions

Post by madmax1012 »

I love my pathfinder, because it's a fucking sick practice amp as just about everyone knows. but ever since i got an ac15, i hardly ever use it. i kinda wanna start modding and shit like that, and the pathfinder would be perfect. what are some mods i could do to boost the excellence of it? there's gotta be some out there. also, i wanna change the tolex to some ridiculous color. how the fuck do i do that without butchering it? gracias to whoever contributes!

The removal of the clipping leds is the only particularly well documented mod. Increases clean headroom, gets rid of fuzzy-metally distortion. I've seen mention of changing the power amp chips to increase power, but not well documented. I'm gonna have to increase trem depth on mine. Some have added a non-ridiculously dinky reverb pan to replace the joke it comes with stock, but even the joke pan is completely okay for light use IMO.

The cabinet is the best finished I've seen for anything close to its price. Seems like a waste of effort to recover it. A really beat amp or something in 80s-90s rat fur might really need the help. But it's not like you're ruining a vintage piece.
