the other preamp tube? thats just the phase inverter, I spaced it down a little because it fits the layout better IMO.

have you tried switching power tubes?

Nope, haven't been up to that yet. My first time with that kind of problem. It is kind of weird, because the amp is no older than 3 years.

Yeh, its time to retube. You'd be suprised how much yer amp will "come back to life" as soon as you retube it correctly. Take it to a tech for proper biasing if need be

Check out thetubestore.com, had a good experience with them

Finished my Twin Reverb head project today. Stoked on how it turned out. Anxious to put it above an Alnico SRO loaded Emperor 2x12.

That is super sexy.

I've got a Twin Reverb as head, but I didn't do it myself and it looks shitty. Especially compared to that. That's some nice fucking work.

Thanks. Definitely has its blemishes and fuck ups if you look up close, but came out nice for a first project. I love the way it turned out.

Maybe it is time to replace the valves?

There are not many low watt tube combos with a 12" speaker and that was what initially called my attention.
I use the 5881 power tube. The clean tone e just gorgeous and it takes pedals really well.
The open back design prevents boxyness but the low-end is not really sacrificed.
The speaker emulated output works just fine for recording.
I use it for practicing, rehearsals and small gigs.
Couldn't be happier :thumb:

No need. This combo has a built-in auto-bias circuit. You can use 5881 or EL34 tubes.

No, I had it built raw out of pine from a guy who makes raw cabs. I did all the finish and fitting.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

My quest has ended for guitar amps.

Same post over in the GAS thread....

After searching for the right to come along, AND in the right condition.... I got 'er....

1967 All original Blackface Fender Showman.
In my humble opinion, the best 6L6 clean amp ever made. This is THE amp for pedals. Brilliant clean sound, doesn't break up at all, and the coveted AB763 circuit - non-master volume. Dome light jewel has been replaced to an orange one, and a grounded AC cord.

Tubes: NOS tall Sylvania's from the 60's, Telefunken 12AT7 and 12AX7, two Dumont 7025.

WOOOT. :!!!: :!!!: :!!!: :!!!:

You can bet your fargin arsehole all future guitar demos will be played through this.
