the endless slagging of dba build quality is nonsense at this point. DBA has gotten much better, and they have a lifetime warranty, which makes up for anything messed up they crank out. Some of the builders who have hosted forums here have made some pedals that were poorly constructed (bad soldering, wiring, electrical tape, etc) , and while they were much cheaper than DBA, it is still poor construction. I had three older devi pedals that were all a mess inside, a few newer dba pedals that were much better, yet devi doesn't catch a lot of flack for those early pedals.

anyway, the robot has some unique and cool sound, but not 320 cool. my policy with dba: wait and buy used.

dunnnnoooo. it's nothing personal about DBA, i've heard they're very nice guys, and i like their band a LOT, but the build quality isn't on par with the price at all. i've never clicked with any of the designs, but even newer stuff is kinda a MESS when i've looked inside. and i know a lot of people that have had problems with their stuff breaking, i know some shop keepers that have told me about how many broken returns they get. i wouldn't feel comfortable spending half of what they ask, just for fear of them being reliable.

lifetime warranty is good, but who wants to put themselves in a situation where they buy something they EXPECT to break?

i can get not bonding with the sound or thinking the price isn't in line (although no matter the price paid, I'd expect a quality build from any pedal maker), but my personal experience is 3 for 3 on quality builds from dba: fuzzgun, soundwave, and robot. I did buy my fuzzgun used, and it tanked quickly, but they sent me a new one. I built a clone of the fuzzgun, and I probably put that circuit board through some stress, but it never had a problem.

right on. glad they work for you. i'm not trying to trash them, again, i've heard the DBA guys are really nice, but you talking about having good quality builds has been the exception to the rule IME. i don't think they have bass players in mind when they're working on their designs, so it doesn't really surprise me that i've never really enjoyed there pedals.

and yeah, i'm with you. the whole reason i buy from smaller builders predominantly is because along with trying out different stuff in their designs, they usually have excellent customer service/more reliable builds.
