Beck live is good indeed. When I saw him, he played everything I could dream of. And MGMT opened. One of the best concert experiences of my life.

I loaded the rhythm section loops for GarageBand on the laptop tonight and started on a Beta Band-style folk/hip-hop hybrid track of the sort i've wanted to work on for ages but never got around to doing. i started with GB loops, which are more complicated than i prefer, and will edit them down so they're less overly muso. God, the cymbal parts are busy, even when they're slowed down to 69bpm. but the track is practically writing itself, which is a fucking refreshing change from my usual grind-away-for-eons process. i want to try biting some string samples from a couple of my favorite tracks, pixelating them from MP3s perhaps and then EQing them to kill off the rhythm sections.

I hate trying to EQ out instruments. I always end up with weird sounding samples with whatever I'm trying to leave clear, but altered. It works for what I write, but it's never what I intend on doing.

Kate's supposed to be coming over today. I can't wait. :3

Mostly weekends, but last weekend we only got to get lunch together. We live a half hour apart, and I don't drive, so, *shrug*

Got a customs letter through, which is both good and bad, but mainly good because I can pick up my algal bloom on monday! Expecting good times.

Heh, for a project at work, I was told to go take a certification test to get a feel for the material. Took it totally blind, and passed. What a joke.

Well, I guess I have a girlfriend now.

Been seeing my internet blind date some times lately and I've been worrying about how this would turn out to be and everything was kinda weird but also nice. Last night I cooked dinner for her (she's vegetarian which fucks up my eating habits) and we hung out in my kitchen and that was extremely awesome. She stayed over and we made love which was much nicer than expected and then went out for breakfast. So we were sitting outside with our coffees and were holding hands when suddenly my sister-in-law stands right there in front of us and is all happy about me having a new girlfriend. So, well, I would not have said it like that but circumstances sorta defined us as a couple now.
I am delighted.

Dude, that rules! Congrats.

So, um, happy contribution: Played a really sick show in front of a lot of people last night. One guy, who's sorta one of the older dudes in the Denton music scene, said it was one of the most exciting things he had seen in a really long time. Plus, I got two free sodas.

Free carbonated beverages are sweet. Glad to hear the show went well.
Oh, and sex is alright I guess :/
Really though, nice that you meet someone cool.

I actually think the best part is that the first person we meet at a time when I was actually not yet ready to present her to my friends is my wife's sister. That's what makes me smile the most, actually. But being with someone cool and sex are both *alright* as well.

Heh, well, you can be married and have a girlfriend. Especially when you are married because you can't be bothered to pay the court fees for the divorce.
