Found it through Guitar center's used search engine. Considering they charge almost nothing for shipping, it was a pretty damn good deal. Going to get it tuned up and checked out by my amp guy, then i have to decide if i want to buy a roadcase for it, or get a new box for it (I hate carpet amps)
Nice dude!!!! I don't doubt you got a stellar deal on that. I brought mine in one time just to see what they thought it was worth, and I think they only offered $120! I ended up selling it for $550. But, yeah, those RedBears slay. LOW END FOR DAZE. Also, I could pull off some pretty good punchy Johnny Marr riffs with the low input.
Here was my set up before I started worrying about money, and what old white man have to say about the economy:
Searchable database of every guitar center's used inventory. You find something, you call the store. some of them you can just straight up buy on the site. You can get them shipped to you, or you can head to your local store and get them to do all the work and just pick it up there. Shipping for the head was a grand total of 18 bucks.
@moustache_bash- Yes! that is so nice looking, I am a little annoyed mine is missing the redbear plate, but oh well. that doesn;t effect how great of an amp this is. It's a shame you sold yours. I wish these things weren't so hard to find. Great amp.
I've heard that they are VERY similar to the JCM800. I've never played a JCM800 partially due to the price. I can;t say much about that by way of sound, but if they sound similar, the redbear is way more budget friendly.
I know that they use entirely different preamp and power tubes than a JCM. Its a one channel amp, just has a master volume and a gain volume then after. I know that the treble pot can get me well into the chimey/glassy territory that i hate, but is really responsive and can be rolled back. I was running it with Bass at about 4, mids dimed, and highs at about 4.5 the other day at practice and it was an absolute beast.
Preamp tube stock: 6n2p From wikipedia: " The most significant difference between the two is that 6N2P has its two filament elements connected in parallel, unlike the series filament connection of the 12AX7, and it is thus only possible to operate it from a 6.3 volt, 300 mA filament supply (whereas a 12AX7 may be operated from either 6.3 or 12.6 volts.) The 6N2P also has slightly lower gain than a 12AX7."
