some days I shouldn't be let near a recorder. Thought I was going to knock this thing out in 30 minutes...2 hours and 50 takes later...fucking nothing oh well, better luck tomorrow. I'm just getting worse as I go.

I find that RPM is about letting go of my perfectionist side. In the album I did last year there's a LOT of improvised tracks; stuff I threw down to add texture and whatnot.

Anybody make it? I did not. But I have 3 finished songs out of the motivation. a couple more recorded and I will have my shit together. Even though I failed this, I'm happy it pushed me to start laying down some songs that I've been kicking around for, literally, years.

Now, I have the motivation to keep pushing things towards completion.

It was against my own personal rules to just loop something and drone or play noise for the 15 minutes I lacked.

Interested to know if any of you finished and put your stuff up.

I did make the 35 minutes, but only because of the drone/noise..... I really wanted to do an album that faded in and out of drone/noise and more structured, metal-type songs. And of course, I sat down yesterday and came up with a handful of cool ideas. Oh well. I'm going to put it up on bandcamp, I think, though I'd like to finish a couple-few more of the structured songs first. We'll see what happens.

Basically how my experience was. Only actually got 1 thing recorded, but it forced me to write loads more than I usually do and like the songs I came up with.

EDIT: OK took all this down so I could fix levels on my final mix. Still just shy of 20 minutes, but it's something interesting that I'm going to build on and would like to share.

Sorry to spam this thread, but I'm actually kinda happy how this all turned out. It might actually turn into a full(ish) album's worth of music, just not over a month.
