Flat Jet Duos are the only one I know that I haven't seen mentioned yet.

Maybe Gull, too, but it's one guy who plays drums and guitar at the same time.

It would seem that I forgot to mention the band NEU! They are a two piece for most of their stuff (they had some help on a couple of songs). If you want inspiring drumming you will find plenty of it in NEU!'s material.

i'm staying away from the electronica duos because they're kind of irrelevant to the inspiration-for-drumming thing, but there sure are a lot of them...Autechre, Boards of Canada, Basic Channel, the Black Dog after the first record, and i'm not even out of the Bs yet.

do you have any idea how hard it is not to yield to the temptation to clog up the thread with YouTubes of Sam and Dave, Peaches and Herb, Simon and Garfunkel, and Crosby and Nash? all of whom by the way had stellar drumming?

The Kills rock it REALLY hard with just two people and a drum machine. More dirty and to-the-point rock n' roll. Keep On Your Mean Side is definitely required listening.

YES Keep on Your Mean Side is one of my favorite albums of all time. It features real drums, unlike most of their other stuff.
