Re: Macaroni Art.... Behndy Style! (TB and lots of Boobies)
So, this is the thread where guitarists complain about bassists?
Behndz, dude, there are so many different ways for bands to work, maybe it's not the best idea to be so set. I think it is really hard to form a band based on existing material. For everybody to find a place in the sound spectrum jamming for the first couple of meetings is pretty much the only way in my opinion. Usually a frame is quickly found for stuff to move in. But maybe I am too hippy about this, dunno. I have never aimed for work or success in my music. All I want to do is have fun. That means creating something I am proud of as well, but I avoid taking it too seriously. Has served me well. This is the way I wrote this but if you think that it might be a good idea to change it all around, let's check it out.
Hoy, I always got bored in purely improvisational bands after a while. Owwl is the only exception, but what we make is already so filled with constraints it would be horrible if the content was also set in stone. I need a set of rules to keep it interesting for me. What I mean is that it might make Shiva better to have loose arrangements. It need not be the traditional kind. Think Philipp Glass, or make a graphic score, make it a game. You could even roleplay, like you and the drummer could imagine you hate each other for a song and try to sabotage each other. Or you guys could just move to Cologne, and I conduct you!
I am in two bands and two looser projects now. I still don't feel my musical ideas fully reflected somewhere and I keep toying with the idea of forming yet another project, though I don't have the time for all of these even now. I am actually thinking of quitting the doom project. That shit is nice, because it's just loud Megalith blaring, but the drummer is a pothead and kinda dumb (comes with the package i guess) and I don't gel with him. Anyway I don't see myself investing enough time to really get that off the ground.
Then there is a band that actually rehearses once a week and we write songs and record (Did the voice last tuesday, man I forgot haw awesome it is to fully concentrate on singing. It was amazing. Finally felt like a musician again.) but still it sits like a lame duck, because we're lacking a vision. I am a punk at heart. I like to do things and see where they lead me. Experiment and not bother with the details. The bassist, Jacques, is the opposite, he's a progger at heart. he obsesses over the smallest details, and keeps standing on the brake. Sometimes we compliment each other nicely. We are both good at what we're doing and sometimes it works if I tell him what to omit and he tells me what to add. But more often than not we are not that clear and we both pull in different directions. Damn it, I wish we had a handful of songs and could finally take the stage. I fucking love stages. And I miss them! I was hoping for this band to be my pleasant, dancey, stage band. Something for the ladies. Until now it's not light enough for that.
Then there's another project with an old buddy of mine. We used to have an acoustic duo which was my most successful musical project (Well, I guess hving a label release the new Owwl, it evens the score). But after a while we both got bored with it and I moved out of town for a while. So we called it a day. And ever since I got back we are trying to make something work. We tried acoustic improv, electric noise psych, bands, duos, we even played a show with two punks we never even rehearsed with. (It was horrible!) But it all boiled down to this: I needed to get back to writing songs like I did in the days when we were 'successful'. But I am not a professional songwriter. I actually need inspiration for it. So, lately it has been working again and i arranged heroes for the ILF Bowie Cover project and wrote another song in a similar vein. And i play them to him and he's all excited and starts writing a guitar lead but then after he walks out of my appartment the whole energy is gone. It's really hard to get this off the ground. Even though I think it would be great. The song I wrote is really good and it would be a shame not to play it. Also there are still people very supportive of our old project. There is a promoter dude that keeps telling me we should reunite whenever I see him.
Ah, whatever. I am going to pick up the 205 pedals Behndy sent me right now!

So, I got the M5 yesterday...there's some for-real usable stuff in it! I'll be happy if I can pull a good delay, chorus, and reverb out of it...everything else will just be either ignored or a bonus. Probably gonna spend the weekend learning what all it can do. New toys are fun!!

Re: Macaroni Art.... Behndy Style! (TB and lots of Boobies)
I just got home from teaching 2nd grade for the morning. I taught them about work, money, government and taxes.
Volunteer work is so rewarding.
By the time I left most of the class was crying, one boy was in the corner rocking back and forth saying he wants to go back inside mommy, and a girl was trying to slash her wrist with those safe scissors.

Wasn't there some super cool duder who was offering to throw some stuff on on the TB BST for me? I finally got around to listing that crap here on ILF, but I might as well throw it up there as well...

I don't remember JimmyM at all.....so he could totally be a cool dude...or a db....I wouldn't know. But his lackys are getting kinda annoying. I really do think they get together and wee on each other.
