entry level short scale bass?

Post by deadbeatriot »

i've taken over bass duties in a band. i'm borrowing this shitty 5 string, but i want something i can beat up on.

any suggestions for something cheap?

i'd prefer a punchy tone and a short scale, or at the very least something with small string spacing.

My girlfriend has one that she's learning on. Great bass for the money.

On another note - at least try one of the Gretsch Electromatic Jr. Short scale, STRONG pickup - it may not play quite as nice as the Squier, but I prefer the sound - and I'm a Fender dude.
Maybe partying will help.

Yeah, that one is real good bang for the buck if it's got to be short scale, or consider an epi EB-0 or EB-3, if You're into dirty mud.

I just bought the normal-scale Squier VM Jag bass a couple weeks ago and fucking love that thing. I'm sure the short scale is equally awesome-fucking.

Budget?

If you've got something to work with maybe a Mustang or Musicmaster for teh mojos.

Bronco? I'd fuk jawn of those.

Maybe you could land something old and cool from the Fuji-Gen plant,...might require some moddy mod mod mods though if the pickup is week (boosht pedal shun).
