I love (?) the '80s

Post by metalmariachi »

The song by Ceremony on the shoe gazer thread reminded me of “Take My breath Away” by Berlin.

This one was banned from radio
I like Virginia Macolino vocals better than Terri Nunn's on this one. great ending too.

So I looked it up which lead to Spandau Ballet (great band name BTW) so...

Luckily I stopped my downward spiral into the '80s before I hit Simply Red,

or Milly Vanilli.

Ok not before.

Any way that reminded me of the days when FM radio would play every thing, you could listen to some stations all day without hearing the same song twice. Maybe without hearing any thing good though.

This could start a whole other thread on the rise and fall of FM radio.

I grew up in the 80s so for me my childhood soundtrack is full of stuff by The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, The Police, etc.

But there was a lot of shit as well...

I grew up in the 80s too...well, didn't do much growing up, but... There were some sour notes but all in all a great time for music, if you knew where to find it.

FWIW, Smashing Pumpkins did a cool cover of the last one in Sydney in 08.

I pulled one randomly from the shelf at my schools radio station... then two days after falling for them, i found 4 of their records in a thrift store for 99 cents. best day.
