WHO HAS USED A MASTERY BRIDGE?

I got a jazzmaster. I LOVE my jazzmaster. MIJ 1994. It came set up, it played and sounded awesome. Within a week the radius was all out of whack, the saddle screws were slipping and the intonation was barf. not to mention i broke a string. I know all of these are extremely common things with stock JM bridges,

i was looking into mustang bridge and graphtech saddles (which both worry me that they will space my low E too far out), until i stumbled upon mastery. Now, some serious players use these and they get awesome reviews everywhere.

i was wondering if anybody'd used them before?

Please let me know, this instrument plays and sounds like a dream, and i can't deal with this bridge.

Mastery bridge = excellent bridge. I have them on both of my recent-ish Jazzmaster, and they are outstanding. They're sent basically intonated, too - set up like a dream.

Mastery bridge is amazing. Had one on my AVRI Jazzmaster and the guitar I replaced that with, my BilT. I have changed my tunings multiple times, used different kinds/sizes of strings and re-intonating (real word?) was easy.

The mastery looks amazing, but I have an el-cheapo TOM on my jag and it works fine. Good intonation, no slipping out of saddles or anything. It doesn't quite match the radius obviously, so on higher frets the intonation is a little bit worse, but still totally playable, not really out of tune or anything. I'm not saying don't get a mastery, those are clearly better and as soon as I can afford one I'm doing it, just maybe it's worth trying a really cheap option first?

I really want to get one for my mascis...what's the dealio with installing a mastery on a jazzy with a TOM bridge?
I know I need the extra thimbles they sell, I'm guessing a bit of body drilling/filling is in order? Never done anything like that myself

Mastery has definitely improved my MIJ JM's sustain. Massively? Not hugely, but enough that the stock bridge would never ever go back in any JM of mine. If you've got the cash they are great. You do have to adjust your hand when dampening strings though, a small learning curve to get around. When I ordered it I let them know I had a MIJ 94 and they sent the correct thimbles. No drilling required.

i have those graphtech tusq saddles as well as a MIJ jazzmaster and they fit perfectly. As they are white they look cool if you guitar matches

They are a hell of a lot cheaper than a mastery

I've played a few guitars with them.

Just as happy with a TOM.

I beat the jank out of my guitars. I don't get along with TOMs. I use a Mastery.

I upgraded my jaguar to a mastery and it's a huge improvement. With just about any gauge string, round or flat wound, it gives you much better sustain and the notes sound much more alive, not to mention trem usage doesn't cause as many tuning issues. The only issues with it is that intonation can be a little finicky sometimes and the screws might lower after a few shows (although mine hasn't budged). Lots of people say a little teflon tape or clear nail polish solves the screw problem.

Otherwise, you could try to get one of the Johnny Marr jaguar bridges. I'm not sure how they work but they are modified mustang bridges with reportedly wider screws and some collet thingy goin on.

My local luthier found it a bit annoying for intonation at first, but he didn't have to tweak it much as it was set up pretty well from purchase. Since then (about 2 years) no intonation adjustment required.

Could always go for loctite to set & forget.

I recently got a CP Jag and a Mastery in a trade. Waiting on a black pickguard, and then off to the local offset specialist tech here to get all put together. Very excited to see and hear this thing in action.

Not sure how much the Mastery will affect a CP with the trem position changes; it's what probably makes the TOM on mine tenable.

Then again, I have a TOM on my Mustang too (came that way in its bizarre pawnshop setup) without complaints.
