Strymon's delay pedals, $69 for a save spot? The Timeline which apparently requires a MIDI-controller if you want to use half its functions? Fuck that shit.

Doesn't stop me from wanting a Timeline, just from buying one, but I'm going through withdrawal here.

My general rule is not to buy anything that I can't sell at a 20% max loss.
As long as it retains value I don't think anything is overpriced.
What sucks is when you by something new for $300 and as soon as you open the box it's value drops to $200.

That's a great rule, but really hard to enforce. Im getting better at it.

I agree on Devi's stuff

The 95 dollar pedals just went up to 100 and double pedals like the Shoegazer Rocket and Godzilla went down from $200 to $175. And didn't TBDs and SP-AE's used to sell for 300? Now they're $275. The Hyperion and Eye of God went down from $95 to 85. I understand not supporting Devi, but her prices are not that high at all unless you want a TBD. If you enjoy the sounds then I'd say its cool.

that makes sense...

She's working on different pcbs, through hole or whatever its called. And moving to carbon comp resistors. I have no idea how big of an improvement these are since I'm not a builder, but it sounds like she's improving her pedals to be more consistent. :idk:

Through hole is just your standard board, no different from what she's used for years. I fully support the use of carbon comps :thumb:

Any tuner over $60. At that price range, you're paying for an accuracy that, if it's even truly more accurate, is WAY beyond the range of human hearing than what the cheaper tuners offer. Add to that the fact that guitars/basses are imperfect instruments and can't bend pitches the way each individual chord needs to be....add to that all the dirt and shit we love to throw on top of our sound and it's the biggest waste of money. If something has a really cool function...maybe....but if you're spending that extra cash for the best accuracy than you're throwing it at nothing.

I was talking about the dwarfcraft with that last one. And with the devi prive increases i was talking about the hyperion 2 and the wolf. Didnt they used to be like....145-155?

I'm not a fan of sticker labels either, but they can actually be nice if done right-- where the label covers most of the face, and it's clear-coated well. I'm not a fan of when the stickers are a lot smaller and the corners of the label aren't rounded. It wouldn't stop me from buying a cool pedal, especially if it was priced well, but yeah.

I think Mellowtone and Fuzzhugger both use stickers, and they look pretty awesome. A good clear coat goes a long way...

Anyways, has anyone mentioned Cornish? Cornish pedals actually make me angry when I see them. I don't care who that dude has worked with-- fuck him. He doesn't even really try. Just throws out some bullshit lines about how true bypass sucks and what makes his stuff so much better-- when, frankly, it's all basically average. I mean $500 for a basically standard Big Muff, and dude doesn't even make any effort to make it look nicer than an electric panel? Fuck that guy.

.... I really hate that guy.

I don't think I've really bought any pedals that I felt were too expensive... I've had some expensive ones, but they all seemed worth it.

alternately: spend maybe 10 dollars more to buy the vibe, chorus, and flange, import his toneprint settings and get the same damn thing but with more ability to switch between effects, have more room for different settings and essentially pay the same dollar amount for 3 times as many pedals with 3 times the capability.

i mean cheeerist. if you have a signature pedal, make it AFFORDABLE-ish. hell the most expensive it gets is Joe Bonemassa's bullshit dunlop signature, which probably makes up the price difference for modding a normal fuzzface to the same specs

Timeline needs midi for expanded looper functions only but I see what your saying....

It's pricey but compared to the $300 El Cap, it's a step in the right direction. Oh, and it RULEZ!
