harmony synth vs. gristleizer?
Realizing that these are two fairly different beasts, does anyone have experience
with both? I've been looking to the Gristleizer, as it would be used more for
synth/ drone/ noise type stuff, but the Harmony Synth is pretty intriguing.
Plus, used ones have been popping up pretty regularly recently.
Any thoughts?

I never tried a Gristleizer but I can tell you that my Harmony Synth is an invaluable part of my drone setup. So many great sounds to be found in that box. I never got the hang of using it for straight playing, really, but I love it to plush out a drone.

Oh i played the gristleizer, it's really neat. It can do like trem and pulse effects as well as synthy weirdness. It's pretty cool overall for sure. The harmony synth is also awesome, it can make you dinner and make awesome huge complex harmonies, however it won't do the weird pulse stuff the gristle can do. They're both awesome.
I've got a fuzzbox and i'm not afraid to use it

Get both.
I've got a Gristleizer. Never played a Harmony Synth.
I can tell you that the Gristleizer is a good sound processor. Definitely good for noise stuff. Pretty fun to play with. Throbbing. Get. Get. Both.

They are totally different beasts, IMO. Grist into harmony synth is the cats pajamas. You definitely need both.

You guys aren't really making this any easier.
I guess it would smart to see what the new Harmony Synth features
are.
OK, anybody in the Bay Area have these that I can test out for
10 minutes?
sheeshh......

Re: harmony synth vs. gristleizer?
I ended up selling a bunch of stuff and ordering a tabletop model direct from Endangered Audio.
It's a tricky little beast, doing a lot of different things but it's definitely taking some
time to figure out the nuances.
I'm using it primarily with a Grendel Drone Commander as the sound source and they work well
together. The c/v out on TG and c/v on the DC sort of play nice together but some settings are definitely
more effective than others. As far as the unit itself goes, nice weird/ murky filter effects, choppy pulse and
with the level cranked up it can act as it's own sound generator which is nice. And of course, you can make
it sound super harsh. So far, the only other effect I've used it with is an old Ibanez ad202 which makes anything and
everything sound trippy as hell.
Going to try it out some other effects and sound sources soon.
Will post a track when I get the hang of it.....
