Faye Sing Users: How're you powering yours?

Post by Wes Mantooth »

Well I just got a Faye Sing today but am unable to play it due to I guess the voltage being too low on my wall warts and on my Brick.

So what's everyone else out there using to power their Faye Sing? I'm really hoping my Team Tesla works whenever it gets here

From the Kenfanem website:
Standard Boss-style 2.1mm 9VDC input, negative tip. Current draw is approximately 150mA.

Problem's the current draw. Is that Brick thing isolated outs? If not, try hooking up just the Faye Sing, that should give it enough juice. Otherwise you can try an mA doubler cable if you have one to get the necessary mA.

I plugged it into two different 200ma wall warts and the brick with nothing else connected, still nothing. I emailed Ken about it and said it must be the voltage, I guess I'll be trying to find a cheap 12v adapter :idk:

I had problems with mine too, at first. I have Pedal Power 2+'s on each of my boards, and since I switched to the higher-amperage 9V outputs, it works fine on both boards. Some people have had problems with even that method, though.

There's some good discussion on this very issue in the old Faye Sing thread, starting here: http://www.ilovefuzz.com/viewtopic.php?f=149&t=18928&start=223

Well bought a Guyatone 200ma 12v wall wart off Amazon. Hope this works.

mine works fine with the voltage set to 12v on an isolated out on my PP2.

Mine works well with a Boss style 9V 200mA adapter but I have to cycle it on/off to get it going. Didn't like my PP2+ 9V (including 250mA option) and 12V settings only give 60mA.

Finally put it on my CIOKS DC10, 12V 250mA. Works like a charm, every time.

Mine works absolutely fine off the same 9V daisy chain as all my other pedals. It is rated at 3A though, so that probably explains it.

Weird, I know my Brick and wall warts have the amperage to power it. Must be Dunlop doesn't make the voltage quite as high as other manufacturers :idk:

i couldn't power it off my Brick either. i have a bunch of Boss style 200 mA plugs from different pedals laying around, they worked fine for me. i'm looking at a Hon-Kwang 9v 200mA one right now that worked. did you already order something? i could mail it out to you. i got plentsy.

shuddup. Plentsy is TOO a word.

Just got another one in and I get no effect either. I have a PP2 and have it hooked into my 12v spot. Nothing happens but the light coming on, then I try 9v, still nothing. Haven't tried my 9v Boss on this one, but on the last one I had it barely worked. This seems like a very annoying problem to have. Why didn't they just include a power supply with the pedal?

had the same issue when plugging it into the PP2. I switched to DIP switch to run at 12V and the sound came back, tho its not as pronounced as i think it should be.

I was thinking of getting a Cioks power supply to replace my PP2. Looks like im gonna do that soon.

The Godlyke Powerall and VS 1spot are my primary recommendations for Faye Sings. Anything 12-16VDC with the right polarity and current rating also does the job.

I'll be including a Powerall with Faye's Hers but including them with the Faye Sing would have driven up the price and left a lot of people with superfluous supplies.

Makes sense. I just thought it might be easier. I didn't even bother trying my 1spot because I figured this needed a dedicated power supply. I guess I'll be trying that next.
