Band suggestions (noise rock / shoegaze / post-hc)

Post by author »

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for new bands that have influences from noise rock/pop, shoegaze, and post-hc. Something between Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine and Fugazi. Thats the holy trinity for me :)

Some Examples:

Swirlies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJcT1AhvEhY
Loomer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YO7_hP8hX2Y
Broken Water: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tB9R05cVopo
Tennis Bafra: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bB_Z9qN ... re=related
Echo is Your Love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yelH-C5RAb4 (and yes, I do know Sea Scouts :])
Unwound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8n4GcRS1cY

Thanks!

Edit. Forgot to mention: some no-wave stuff is also welcomed!

Thanks. Mass of the Fermenting Dregs was the only new one for me. Going to look into it!

You said noise rock, so, um, you should probably listen to The Jesus Lizard a lot more than you currently are. Jussayin.

True Widow is cool. Doomgaze, on the real.

Also, Young Widows, (if you're really into the gaze, start with their most recent album, if you're in a more aggressive mood, start with the first two) and since you said post-hc, what's your favorite Fugazi album?

hey Jazzy bro, I'm gonna recommend an album for you - The Martians Low Budget Stunt King. 90's shit that's like the unholy love child of TJL, Mule, and Captain Beefheart.
Start with the song "Uncle's Drunk" if you start the album and aren't sure. A couple of tracks are weak vocally, but these dudes could JAM - the drummer plays in Harvey Milk, too.
their first drummer was Jerry Fuchs of Maserati/Juan Maclean/incredible one-armed fills on youtube fame.
Maybe partying will help.

My favourite fugazi album is the last one: Argument.

Let me just underline, that I'm looking for bands that have all the elements that I mentioned on topic. It's easy to find shogaze, noise rock and post-hc bands, put its hard to find bands that have something from all of these genres.

I dig, I dig. We just have to make sure you've got your basics covered.

I recommend one of my favorite bands in the whole wide world, innards.
