Well, I had my first proper tube amp encounter. A Mesa D-180, my god it was awesome, unfortunately I won't have the dough for it for 2 months, after I get back from Europe. Should I go for it?

You're coming to Europe? Where are you going? If you happen to come to Austria/Slovenia, make sure to stop by and say hi!

Sadly, I'm trapped in Italy on a school trip. If only, I'd love to meet you and any other European ILFers.

Ha, sucks... I've been there twice. You're lucky you go now, because in summer it's like hell over there. So many people, too much heat and a coke costs nearly 4 euros. Everything is expensive as shit, so make sure to bring enough money. But only carry around as much as you need, pickpocketers are everywhere. If you want to save some money, don't go to the restaurants and cafes on the main places/routes. Try to find a smaller place in a little alley, they're much cheaper. And just don't get in trouble... the Italian police is a huge hairy Dick.

If a large blonde man knocks on your door, I've had it with Italy.

i liked Italy. but we did a home stay in a suburb or Milano, so it wasn't super nasty touristy. except nead the duomo. and that wasn't HORRIBLE. didna like Rome that much and fucking HATED Venice. cesspool. and everybody there was sooooooo damn shady.

got some time a/b'ing my bud's tube head vs my ss setup today. toobz was..... better. but didn't blow me away. kinda.... negligeable difference?

for me, not worth the extra weight and expense for the little bit of bettah.

Finally got to play the 1960 through my main cab with my main bass, and man, it sounded great. More than enough bass, all the mid-clank I could ever want, and I got it to start breaking up with the volume between 3 and 4. I'm still running it at half power, as I'm still waiting for two tubes. But so far, I'm pretty convinced.

yah. i was running the gain really low on my Rusty Box, like 20-25% up, got some LOUD sternum nuzzling thumps by goig about halfway up on the RB and lower on the power amp.

i can hear a bit of a difference, but i'm pretty damn happy with my rig right now. JUST NEED MOAR TWELVES.

(i really don't)
