Double delay like a boss! Have you tried playing with the trim pots on the 1002?

No way...I sold my first El Cap and have been on the hunt ever since. It has taken me a long while to find one for trade and this one fell in my lap. I let go of some coooool shit for it too. A sign from the Gods. Hahaha. Keeping it for sure.

There's a bunch of trim pots inside. You turn them and shit gets fucked. Like 30-second-super-gritty-degrading-repeats awesomeness kind of fucked!

Guaranteed way to fuck up a delay pedal for ever.futuresailors wrote:There's a bunch of trim pots inside. You turn them and shit gets fucked. Like 30-second-super-gritty-degrading-repeats awesomeness kind of fucked!
Don't do it.
Or if you do, don't ever sell it to some unsuspecting bugger down the line.

I never knew that. I was considering getting one of those old PDS delays because Yo La Tengo (I know, I'm a nerd) used them and turned up the internal trimpot to get 30 second delay which was used like a looper. I thought it was something that almost everyone did to these pedals. How do they get fucked up? Like they can never be normal again or eventually the pedal will just die?

Re: What is in the post? The thread of and for GAS!
The only harm is if you don't mark where the trimpots were originally. Delays have a lot of trimmers because BBDs and their timers need tons of adjustment to get them to sound right. As long as you mark where they were originally and put them back there when you want it to actually sound normal, there's no real danger.

Awesome! I figure I will be using my El Cap for not scary delay sounds. I looooooove the hold function on the PDS 1002.

^^ the best way would probably be to take a DMM and measure each trimpot and make a note so you can set it back exactly how it was if you want.
I'm srsly GASing for a Tone Bender do hard right now. I think I'm gonna build a Marshall Supa Fuzz clone to begin my journey into Bender-land.

The Basic Audio Scarab DLX gives me all the Bender tones I could want! Love it.

I thought those were based on the Big Muff? I don't have a lot of money and I enjoy building pedals so I'm just going to make myself one. I'm checking out the PigeonFx stuff and their Supa Fuzz "kit" looks really cool. I think I'm gonna get one.
