Women's roller derby

Post by Mudfuzz »

Anyone else interested/involved in this wonderful sport? http://www.wftda.com/

I find that derby is about the only sport I can find a interest in, maybe it is the energy and skill of the players, maybe it is because it is because I like watching hot powerful women with tats pummeling each other, who knows....

The Olympia Wa team Cosa Nostra Donnas are 2nd in the west coast http://www.olyrollers.com/ :thumb:

My sister and her partner DJ the Oly games and I help by bring in some extra PA enforcement. My band N@MELESS also did a song for the Donnas that gets played during the games sometimes [you can hear this here http://www.myspace.com/nmeless if you ant too.

I went to a derby last year for the first time, and I dug it a lot more than I expected to. Very rock and roll-ish crowd. There was a DJ spinning hard rock/metal the whole time. They had a shot of Jameson and a PBR for $5 bucks at the consession stand (and everybody was indulging). And the action was pretty dang entertaining....not to mention the stage names of the derby girls (e.g. Phyllis Killa). If and when I go again, I'll probably get more into the sport of it (the only other sport I ever watch is NBA)...but for my first time, I just dug the whole rock party atmosphere.

Over here it is still a rocker crowd but the venue is more family friendly over here, no drinking [I don't drink so I don't mind], kids ect. Here it is about the only large alt type on thing going that isn't oppressingly hippy.
