Recommend me a fuzz with a ridiculous amount of low-end.

Post by TheOndrakGuy »

The time has come to put a new pedal on my board. I've got a RAT for when I'm being sensible, a Fuzz Factory clone for runaway nastiness or starved velcro-y sounds and a Pulsemonger for piercing synthy fuzz, but I feel like I'm missing something that can help me trigger earthquakes.
What has some serious low end to it? I'm feeling something utterly crushing to the point of doom-y. Something that can contrast my other dirt pedals in a big way.
I'm leaning towards a SS/BS TAFM, but it's nice to know what other options are out there...

Eau Claire Thunder has the most low end in a pedal I've ever used, but it doesn't drown out other frequencies either.
And if you get the big version with the trim knob (key), it's amazing for stacking.

I hear the DE Ruiner is nothing but retarded low end (so Achtane says, at least).

I like the TAFM for the woof woof, but I've not ever owned a Ruiner or an ECT.

The Musket and the Supercollider can add a whole lot of boom. I think the Musket maintains the sound of your guitar better.
The ECT is, overall, a dark sounding pedal but I don't find that it adds a lot of bass.

You clearly need some kind of Muff...

I don't have as much experience with bassy fuzzes as a lot of people here, but I thought the Devi Ever Soda Meiser and Dwarfcraft Shiva had some awesome bassiness going on. The Dream Crusher has some good bass going if you want something with a more vintage/classic sound:

Tall Font Green Russian Muff or clone... not bubble font, not black russian, Tall Font for the low end.

Hell yes. In my experience nothing brings the low-end BOOM like the tall font. I understand the Civil War is supposed to be 'the same' but that's probably the only Muff I've never tried.

I find the Bubble Font greenie to be closer to the much smoother NYC sound than it is to the jet-engine BOOM of the green tall font. There's no muff like the tall font (again except perhaps Civil War but I dunno about that one), it's NUTS.

Lowest lows I've gotten in a fuzz are from a DE Cherry Pop. Sadly out of production. It goes stupid low. Like subsonic "wub-wub-wub" your speakers low.

I'm quite liking the idea of a Musket now too out of these suggestions. It's small but got plenty of balls. The only thing is, Brian's custom TAFM finishes are all kinds of sexy...
The ECT might be a little too mental considering the amount of crazy stuff on my board already.

Didn't someone on here get one of those Fuzz O))) Meathead clones? How did they get on with that?

he speaks the troof. Used to have one and used it on guitar. I've owned 3 Devi Ever SM's, and found 'em to be pretty bassy. But the one Jero made me rumbles like fuck. A thing of beauty. And then yes, the Green Russian. Though I had the bubble font. Also, for gated, chill octave up with lots of low, the GZ is worth a look.

Also, there's the Dwarfcraft Hair of the Dog, which is based on the ECT, but streamlined for your convenience.
