hurm. cool beans. i have extra hard cases so i'll try that if i sell a bassy bass. thanks!

dELTa - yah. sounds neat. honestly though, i just have the 2 or 3 basic toanz i like before pedz and the Dinger does them WONDERFULLY. couldna be happier with this bass. unless it had some type of consensual sex hole.

LIKE IN MY DREAMS.

Bought a Rogue Beatlebass Knockoff from a friend. It was her dads who passed away and she needed a little money,...plus she wanted it going to someone who would play it. Her dad never played it. It sat in a it's gigbag for 2 years so it's still in mint shape (not that it's worth a whole lot), plastic on the pickups and foam under the bridge.

Image

The pickups are weak and the control layout is,....weird. I also notice that the bridge is a little cocked to the bass side,...which should be an easy fix. Also needs some Flats on it. Trying to figure out what I can do with those PUPs,...overwind them maybe,....I assuming they are soapbars, perhaps there is some sort of replacement out there.

I may also rewire the bass to have a Volume Volume Tone Setup,...then stick an ILF sticker on the control plate. Little known fact,....ILF Stickers are key to good toanz.

I have a friend with an old knockoff beatle bass and before he got it someone jammed a HUGE, really hot humbucker in the bridge and it sounds awesome. I'd recommend replacing the pups with something higher output.

Who knows what those pickups are... they look the same as what epi used on their version and they are as you describe. I'd look at Hoffner pickups maybe... hell.. keep a eye kurt on ebay for old lawsuit japanese pickups like univox, telco, ect.. they pop up every now and then, you want over 7k for good bass tones.

Thanks for the Info. I'll keep an eye out,...but currently have a number of other projects that have priority (getting my TeleDRI rewired and shielded, saving money towards a Mesa/Boogie 400+). I was just looking for a 4banger I could dink around on at home as often times I leave my bass and pedalboard at the rehearsal space. Usually out of laziness/exhaustion/stoned/drunkeness. $100 seems to be the going rate for a used VB100, which is what I paid for it.

and fuck active basses. can't stand worrying about batteries.

That's why you have to have one of those push/pull active/passive jawns (did I finally use that fucking word correctly?). If your battery runs out while you're playing, bang, you go passive and keep going.

I always prefer active because most passives can't get that mean dirty snarl to them that my G&L does. The only exception I can think of is a Rick.

yur. i've heard players that kill with 'em, and if i found a bass i loved that was active i'd look into one of these push pull thingie..... JAWNS..... but i'm stoopid happy with what i have. i lust for a second Dinger done exactly like this 'un. but that's it.

i'm a simple man with simple tastes. i like lollipops in my mouth and butter in my ass.

I could easily see UPS and FedEx being $100...usps tends to be a good 30-50% cheaper than either of them. And if you buy the packing thingermavaginger online, it's even cheaper.

Actives rock. Flat wound strings are for pussies. Choruses and flangers are for acid washed jean/jorts wearers. Kriss Kross makes me jump. And guitars look like Guitar Hero controllers. Goodnight, everyone. :hello:

Flats on the right bass for the right toanz is fine with me.

Shortscale/SemiHollow/Hollowbody,....going for that muddy thumpy upright-ish sound,...I think that beatle-esque basses are good candidates for flats,...

That said I do I do prefer Rounds for modern toanz.

Also there is something to be said for Flats interacting with tracking type pedals (IE Analog Octavers and such) a lot better than Rounds.

Meh,...Too Each His/Her Own.
