S'what it does.

It gets VERY clean--like "boost overdrive" territory. sjtele wrote:I love that nasty clipping, I think it may get lost in a band setting tho unless it has some punch behind it
In that second mode, there's a volume boost and an increase in brightness/edge/cutting, which I think helps to avoid that.

How much do you think they will cost?
ILF pedals: DE Eye of God, Mellowtone Wolf Computer, Mellowtone Singing Tree LE, Fuzzhugger Arc Flash Oscillator, DSc Miniberator, Mysterious J boost/cut/tremolo pedal

The goal is (as always) affordable as possible! Haven't run the numbers yet (I'm kind of curious what people expect it to be, as there aren't a lot of dual footswitch two knob pedals for precedents).
I'll think about a single fs + toggle version...
Also--just to clarify, this will be going under the "special builds" section of the FuzzHugger(fx) page, though they'll be readily available / in stock...there probably won't be lots of custom ones like with the three flagships (AB, AB-S, GW).

Wow, nice work. My vote is for a dual switch (rather than toggle).
I actually don't mind the name MINDEF either.
The name came to my def mind is SWIZZ ARMY KNIFE...because it's a do-it-all pedal. Overdrive, muffy fuzz, and glitchy splatter , all in one pocket sized pedal.
Is there an ETA?

Thanks, Sev!There'll definitely be dual footswitch config available at some point.
I liked the name Mindef too, but it would've excluded some people who would have otherwise wanted one (kind of like the name Tea Bagger). And Arc Flash really gets at the electric and explosive nature of the pedal...something that can be pretty but also dangerous!
ETA...I just made a final tweak on the circuit. I'm thinking a week.

Foot switches always beat the flip switches (before there's more than three of them in tight spacing)
they make pedals much more useful playing live.

Re: PROTO! Fuzz-OD-muff-insane-bass-cutting-nasty-everything!
Somewhere in the madness of trying to catch up on orders, some great progress has been made on the Arc Flash!
Since this is the "proto" thread, I'll share all my notes and gritty details!
Lots of testing, the circuit has been finalized, and I've got the rollout plan.
It's going to be vertically oriented, one footswitch, and one toggle.
(Gasp!
Don't worry! I plan to offer the horizontally oriented two footswitch version!)
There are some very good reasons why I went with 1 fs + 1 toggle.
1) A dual-footswitch two knobber is a rare thing. Hard to price, might cause some confusion despite the versatility of the unit. Some might wonder why they shouldn't go with a 4-knobber, not realizing that this has been designed to be as versatile.
2) It'll keep the cost low!
3) With the dual footswitch setup, only when the gain's set low (9 and lower) and you stomp on the second footswitch, there's a small lag as it switches over. I can totally correct this by changing one value, but that kills about 25% of it's extended range/sweep. Not worth it, but still, I can't make the dual fs one standard til I sort that out.
4) While there's generally a great transition between modes (with a slight vol increase), I think a LOT of people will want to reach down and tweak the knobs between settings.
SO! Vertical layout, spiffed up vertical graphics... There'll be a new thread shortly, with pics and a demo video.
I'm feeling very enthusiastic about it!
