Emitter Switching (devi ever diy)

Post by enjoyadrian »

This may be a noob question, but I want to build the Soda mesier kit with a switch to change it to the vintage fuzz master. The only difference between the two is an emitter and how it's placed on the board. How do I go about doing this?

Here is the schematic:

using a 3pdt toggle will work.

Okay I did some googling and saw this. Will it work? If so, do I just place the base leg directly on the board?

Yeap, that's the easiest way. The base of q1 goes to the board, along with the black and red leads from the switch. The two wires crossing in the middle of switch, make the flip-flop occur when the switch is toggled.

You know you could add another switch for GZ mode too. Q3 just needs to be changed from an mpsa18 to 2n2222a :thumb: . 3pdt switch would be the cleanest way...top 3 lugs get one transistor (one leg to each lug), bottom 3 get the other transistor, and the middle row of lugs goes to the board.

Yeah and it you want to get really crazy you could throw in a switch for the "chaos mode" too.

I built one with the SM/VFM switch and another with the chaos switch. Next one gets both..

Chaos or noise, both are super easy.

You could prob add 2 switches for those modes, one going between chaos/noise, and the other removing the previous switch, for normal use. The only one I ever built had chaos and sm/gz, but I socketed the 2907 so it can be flipped for vfm/gz.

in my noob days I wanted to use 3PDT for everything but all you really need is DPDT for transistor swapping or E/C swapping. how much current flows through any pin on a transistor if the other two pins float? the answer is zero amps, no current.
