Hey-o, Metalmariachi

Post by Moustache_Bash »

Hey MM, I just realized I bumped one of your old threads on TalkBass (at least I think I did...)! Do you still own your ZT Lunchbox? I was thinking of using one for bass rehearsal/practices/portability, but then also using it as a head with a bigger cab for potentially playing out?

Also anyone who else has anything to add to the lunchbox, do please chime in.

I have one that I use for keys and my guit, but I'll tell you my complaints about it. It doesn't have a ton of low end normally. If you're using anything and you don't have it plugged in to an extension cab, you're definitely not going to keep up with a drummer without losing very nearly all your low end. However, for purely practice purposes it will get the point across at pretty high volumes.

With an extension cabinet i predict it will do very well. I'm not sure how loud it will be. I'm thinking about getting one of those acoustic 15"s to leave at the bandroom. At home I practice with headphones and it sounds good to me, and if it sounds good with headphones I imagine it would sound good with a cab, depending on the cab of course. If you're playing at low volumes you can keep a fair amount of bass; there is a negative relationship between volume and amount of bass with just the zt.

I'm keeping my eyes peeled for reviews for the zt bass lunchbox when it comes out. A 400w 2x12 stack sounds pretty nice to me if they ever release it.

Sweet. Thanks, man. I'm not really interested in retaining low end, as weird as that sounds. It's generally drums and bass, for me, 99% of the time. So, I'm not really looking for traditional "bumm-bomm" bass sound. Everything is just for poops and giggles, really. More concerned about volume than anything.

I'm kinda interested to know when the ZT bass will ever come, too. It's been almost two years, if I'm not mistaken....

I was going to say "isn't there a bass version?" but they still haven't released it? It has plenty of volume if that's what you're concerned about. As wfs said, it's low end isn't too impressive, but if thats not an issue than cool beans. If you have a great cabinet to play it out of I imagine it'd be fine.
