still working on drums. i have to introduce variations to underpin the vocals properly so the tom-toms don't walk all over the lyrics and so they accent things, e.g. i want the drummers to punch "that's my kind of high road...GONE WRONG." then i'll decide how long the solo and the outro jam (whee!) will be, put in temporary drums, and do the rhythm guitar and keys. once that's set i'll do the lead guitar, go back in and edit the drums so they interact with the other instruments, and then put the bass and vocals on last.

K that was an exaggeration, but yeah, just not an exact copy. That's what lame highschool metalheads do.

True story.

Did a whole bunch of recording for station to station today, got most of the guitar and bass recorded, it sounds pretty good. Kinda wish I did it slower and doomier though... :( Pretty sure when I started recording I was like "this is SO SLOW what the hell", but it definitely isn't slow enough. Shit is 10 minutes long at this speed though, so :erm:

What sort of stage is everyone else at with this?

I tried a couple of different styles and ended up liking the simplest one the best, recorded that, was unsatisfied with the quality, now I'm back at square one. Might force one of my bands to play this, that would also solve the recording problems, because that practice room is pretty rigged up.

OK, I checked my recordings so far out for the first time in a few weeks today, I like where the guitar/bass tracks are at, anyone good at singing and wants to do vocals for Station To Station? I don't really like my voice, and I DEFINITELY don't like it for this song.

Working in Reaper so I think that'll let me do either (such a noob with this stuff...). You have a preference? I'll get it sort of rough and ready for vocal recordings and send you that mix?

Pretty excited about this collab! After I get the vocals back it's just tweaking the drum tracks, maybe a couple of tracks with feedback loop shit for a bit of noise, and BOOM.

I'd prefer .WAV but I could work with either if you can't do that. And thanks about the tracks, I'm thinking about redoing guitar solo #1 though, or just getting rid of it and adding drones and an extra guitar to make that part ridiculously heavy or something. Or a DUAL GUITAR SOLO. :idk:

that was fun!

i'm falling way behind on mine, but i think i have time this week to tackle my own.

if anyone else is looking for a vocalist... i'm not the best singer ever, but it's great practice, and i think i did an OK job w/ the current collab :)

Wah, I never have time to play guitar. I wish I could work on this. I knew this would happen. I have a basic drum track, but I'm thinking I might strip the whole thing down and make it a super slow doomy thing.
