I love chiptunes. I've been really into Starscream recently (chipgaze)

and The Depreciation Guild

I'll have to watch this video tomorrow, when I can focus on it more.

There's some website that you can send in a gameboy and they'll customize it so you can do stuff like this. Unfortunately I was inebriated at the time and am not quite sure where that website was.

I feel like a cranky old man when I think about the state of the chiptune scene. Star Scream is good, though.

So I've dabbled into this quite a bit myself before I started really playing guitar. This is a good time as any too share my work!

This is an album I made with a gameboy camera! Every song was done in one take, and preformed "live" with no edits. The title is actually misleading, as the gameboy is only capable of 4-bit sound!

These Are the b-sides to that album.

This is a collection of songs made with nanoloop 2.0. A software designed for the gameboy advance. The two tracks "my dog bit me" and "regal frog" were contained on a german chiptune compilation album.

These are a handful of songs that I used nanoloop 1.3 for, which is designed for the gameboy classic. Two tracks are straight gameboy. The other two are things I used the gameboy with. Shortly after obtaining nanoloop 1.3 I finally started to wrangle the guitar. I now use nanoloop when I make game soundtracks for friends, and as a grainy drum machine.

NSFW: show
If you dig up a few levels you could also find this! It's totally unrelated, it's about how not using your senses (the ears) can be dangerous, as other forms of stimuli (guitar cable) can be changes by external influences (the pedals!)...

It always seemed like a bit of a pain in the ass to do with trackers like nanoloop and lsdj. I got a few sound from Reason and Ableton that nailed the chiptune sound pretty well. I'd like to use a gameboy though always seemed like a cool idea.

totally. the learning curve, for me at least, is too steep to draw me away from Reason. i do like the sound straight out of a dmg, but i'm so much faster with Reason, and my NES samples are chippy enough for most listeners.

I am reviving this thread for justice.

Anyone hear of slimegirls? Basically Anamanaguchi if they never went for a EDM sound.

EDIT: I've also started making gazely chiptune under the name StarLord if anyone is interested.

I have a slimegirls tape in my truck. It's pretty good and I like it a lot but Mr. Spastic or 8cylinder...love that stuff.
