This was much harder than I expected it to be. Apparently, most of the albums I found this year that I loved were from the 80s or 90s.
10. Yuck - Yuck
These guys were a great throwback to the 90s. Not much memorable stuff, but an album that I go back to
9. Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues
Not what I was expecting from these guys after their first album. It was a bit more psychedelic than I expected it to be. Great album, though.
8. Manchester Orchestra - Simple Math
A bit underwhelming, but a solid album. It's hard to follow up Mean Everything to Nothing, though.
7. Death Cab for Cutie- Codes and Keys
I just couldn't get too into it. It's an awesome album, some really fantastic songs, and I love Ben Gibbard's voice, but I didn't fall in love with it.
6. Bright Eyes - The Peoples Key
Honestly, it was just underwhelming. Why the fuck is Conor Oberst singing about redemption? It just didn't feel right, which is why it's only number 6. I got into a lot of their older albums this year, instead of this one.
5. William Fitzsimmons - The Gold in the Shadow
Beautiful folky album. Some of my favorite songs of the year are on here. The Tide Pulls From The Moon and The Winter of her Leaving are stored away in a little section of my heart that not many songs make it to.
4. Powder! Go Away - Laika Still Want Go Home
FUCK. This album was on my headset 24/7 for the first few weeks after I found it. So good, from start to finish. Another post rock masterpiece.
3. Maybeshewill - I Was Here for a Moment, and Then I Was Gone
Post rock sex. Such a fucking amazing album.
2. Das Racist - Relax
This album is just fun. It's goofy and in your face the whole time. I love it.
1. Bon Iver- Bon Iver
The single most beautiful album I've heard all year. Masterfully written songs.
Almost every album that I've been listening to this year is old.And there was a best albums of 2011 thread, but it wasn't a top ten. Mods, delete this if it's a dupe thread. I don't know how critical of that type of stuff you guys can get.
