So apparently I am not allowed to view my own academic record or unofficial transcript while on a one-term sabbatical from college. For the privilege to do so, I have to send a request via fax or regular mail (no email or phone requests) and I have to pay $7 plus shipping. I used to be able to just sign on to a webpage. But nope. Can't do that anymore. My email account still works, but not my grades-checking account. Thanks for making sense, guys.

Dude, hit up Canada or something.

Side note: I hate how our healthcare system is set up. Health isn't something that should be insured, and it shouldn't be connected to things like your employer. It should just be cared for, and funded through the government like in Europe and stuff.

Why?

Not arguing. I'm more just curious as to why you - and a lot, maybe even most people think that.

I've spent a long time trying to figure it out, because it's an opinion that a lot of people have, and I just haven't been able to get it. I think it must have to do with sympathy or something.

Some people actually see it as a way of eliminating the waste of our current, non-preventative system. Health Care, pharmaceuticals, and insurance are commodities which it is too difficult for just anyone to provide, so it exists in a realm outside of free market forces that might otherwise promote greater efficiency.

I mean, I'm sure I'm horribly naive and have no idea what I'm talking about, but, I feel like privatized healthcare is a really bad idea. Like, I'm taking a term off from college for health reasons, but since I'm no longer a full-time college student I no longer qualify for my parents' health or dental insurance, which would have totally fucked me over if Obamacare hadn't happened. Things like that are what make me angry. You shouldn't lose medical coverage because you have a medical issue.

I mean, I feel that if you think that you should have to support yourself and afford your own healthcare, and if you can't, too bad, what you're really saying is that poor people should just die.

So, yeah, in theory, that ties into sympathy. But, like, you know, empathy and stuff is like...a good thing.

Forum debates tend to turn into forum arguments. I hate arguing. Also, it seems like I'm always debating with someone whose position is something like 'Everyone should be able have whatever they want, or think whatever they want. Except you, because you don't agree with me.'

It's cool. I was just generalising about past debates/arguments, not talking about you specifically.

You're forgetting that ILF isn't like other forums. We chill. We chill.

I look at it this way as well as practically: People who cannot overcome basic health issues cannot reenter the workforce. Getting work then healthcare puts the cart before the horse or whatever the expression is. The current system also makes people less likely to go on their own small business/entrepreneurial ventures.

On a separate but oddly synchronous note, I am trying to get a hold of someone to schedule an appointment with a therapist and I either get transferred to a different office or I end up on hold indefinitely.

Some of my friends have told me nightmare stories about this. The quickest way from what I understand is to make an appointment with your pcp and then have them schedule you an appointment with a therapist. I don't know if that is traditionally what you're supposed to do, but from what I have heard that may be your best bet.
