Opinions on pedalboard power

I've got a few pedals getting their own 9v from a separate Boss pedal power adapter, but all the rest run daisy chained from One Spot AND THEN A FEW MORE daisy chained from Korg Pitchblack getting its power from the OneSpot... Now try to imagine the background noise.

You think so? Nope, none really. At least, none so bad it would catch attention.

What comes to pedals, figure out which are most needing pedals current-wise. Like any digital pedals or otherwise power hungry bitches on board. Give them the isolated power from any such power supply (Artec Power Brick should work just as good as any if it really is isolated - if it says so and isn't You can always return it to the shop, right?) or use ANY separate power supply. It will help a lot.

Caveat emptor: I play noisy crazy ass doom. Loud, too. With feedback dirges and droning background oscillations with reverb + delay + wah. If I happen to catch a radio transmission in middle of a solo I'm thrilled. So if You want a golden TGP approved nice blues sounds and surgically clean sound when not playing... I might not be the right person to be trusted.

I should note that I haven't noticed a ton of noise, just some with my Pharaoh. But I've been waiting to get a power brick for a while anyway, it seems like it would hold up better than just daisy chaining everything. I'll let everyone know how the Logsdon Audio PSU's work out when I get them. Should be by Friday.

This is sorrrrrrta why I haven't chimed in on this thread, but to a much less cool extent, because Bassus is far radder. But, i've only recently noticed noise with my setup, and I'm 80% sure it's my M5. AND EVEN THEN, I haven't cared enough to like...do something.

I just got a Pedal Power 2+ last week. I was happy using a One-spot for 3 fuzzhuggers, a Boss DD5 and an EHX Freeze in my home office, while an old EHX QTron had its own (24V) supply and my M9 also had its own supply. I hated all the cables laying around but hum was a non-issue, UNTIL I started playing with that same setup in a rehearsal studio. I had a horrible squeal that wasn't gonna fly. I isolated the Freeze as the culprit and put that one pedal on its own One-spot while the other four 9V pedals stayed on a daisy chain. Plugging in the power supplies was the biggest pain in the ass so I sprung for the PP2+. It has exactly the outputs I need, including for the Freeze (more than 100mA) and the M9, two volt sag controls for my Phantom Octave and ABSynth, and then I combine the last two open ports to give me 24 V for the Q-Tron. I've only used it once and will use it again tomorrow, but man, WAY easier to setup and much cleaner than I expected.

My point is, the daisy chain may sound great at home but if you're planning to gig, you don't know what kind of electrical power you'll deal with at the clubs. I think One-spots are great but don't overcrowd them, and I don't think the M5 belongs on one.

Understandable. When deciding between a new power supply or a new pedal, one is a decidedly more "fun" purchase and it sure as hell isn't a supply.

Good point. My setup is nice and quiet at home but there's no telling how shit sounds elsewhere. An isolated supply alleviates those issues. Plus there's the matter of convenience. Just way easier when it comes to moving and setup, a plug 'n play situation which I prefer, always.

Isolated is the big one...I don't think those Logsdon ones are isolated.

I've said it before but power supplies were probably the LEAST fun purchase I ever made, until I had a seriously shitty run with inferior ones.
On one occasion it cost me a pedal, another started what was thankfully a very small fire (sparks/embers really), but could have easily been a much bigger one had it gone unnoticed.

I'm building a pedal board out of an IKEA Gorm shelf, so I'd like something that I could mount under it.

Oh yeah, the PP2+ does not fit cleanly under a Gorm shelf that's laying flat. Just thought I'd add that.

I like my PP2+, but I would like to have more connectors on it.
There's only 8 spot on it and I have 11 pedals on my boards (12 soon).
I don't really want to purchase another PP2+ so I will have to use some dasy chain on some spot.

I've been looking at those Cioks models. The TC10 and a PP2+ would cover anything I need, but they are are pricey just for a power supply. I'd have to hold in my GAS while I set aside for it.

Well the shelf is angled, but the PP2+ does look a little beefy. I'll see how these PSU's work, and if they don't then I'll just accept that I'll need a PP2+ or something similar. Conveniently, NAMM is right around the corner so MAYBE there'll be a new solution for my problem.

Anyone know anything about Fame stuff? it might be EU-based thing btw

i have it (Fame 200DCT). it's basically a clone of Voodoo Lab PP2+ with 2 more outputs - 12VDC and 12VAC plus switch from 110V to 230V. No hum or anything, pure silence and i have it underneath my pedals (digital and analogue).

Only thing is that it's bigger then other power supplys and uglyer (mine is ducktaped).

I've owned couple of power supply units and beside voodoo and bbe this Fame is without a question worth of every €, because there's nothing worse than a hum. T-rex sucks even more than harly benton with my experience all though they say that fuel tank junior has isolited outputs, it really doesn't has it. My friend who's pedal/amp tech agree with me, he opened the unit and test all the components.
