Gorillaz - The Fall

Post by DarkAxel »

So i gave it my first listen a few moments ago... my frst thoughts

It's a strange and interesting album. There are some really nice songs, some really dope hiphop oriented tracks, but sadly, there are a few things that start to sound really good but then suddenly end. They seem more like sketches

It absolutely seems more underground and alternative, also better, than Plastic beach*, it's closer to Demon Days i'd say. Sadly nowhere close to the eponym album... but i can't even imagine Damon topping the first one ;)

*(i like a few tracks, but there are tracks i can't stand and that doesn't apply to DD or the first one :idk: )

so i know there are other Gorillaz fans here... what did you think, guys?

I think personally my opinion of this album was colored by the whole,"We'll release it for free but only not really," deal.

Other than that, it's okay I guess. Definitely sounds like it was made on an iPad.

I can't say I wasn't disappointed, but I should have seen it coming. I've been a Gorillaz fan since the first album, so this was a bit of a let down. There are some good songs here, they just all feel like bits of songs Damon was writing and then said "fuck it" and threw them in between a few Ipad beats he made. I'm probably just bitter because I don't like their new direction, but it doesn't seem like a lot of effort was put in here.

I've got to stop reading music reviews, I sound like such an asshole now. Eh, it was okay. Could have been a LOT better though.

yeah, i hear you... same here. I grew up listening to the first album again and again.... so i know what you mean.

Same thing about those "bits"... but there are a few pretty good tracks i think ;) Probably more than on Plastic Beach, that almub really didn't grow on me
