Wouldn't he have to get a larger box just for the name, one inch deep, one inch tall, no knobs and two feet long.

Or I could wrap the name around all 4 sides...

PURPLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEERIIIIITUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL
Or maybe: PurpleUP or PurpleOctaver.

Octave UP with a semi-dirty fuzzy ring-modish like octave would be cool.

I'm amazed...absolutely amazed that we're talking about a purple colored octave up pedal, and nobody mentioned "Purple Haze." I know that on The Gear Page, it would have been suggested 100+ times!

I like it here.

:thumb:  :idk: Personally I've never been big on naming pedals after songs, and usually am let down a bit inside when instead of what I thought was just a neat name for a pedal turned out to be a name of a song... particularly from bands/songs I don't like :hobbes: Also that sets in people's mind a "what you are suppose to do with it which to me is never good.. so yeah to a lot of people a octave pedal = Purple Haze but that to me is a bit too pigeonholing.. also you said up and down so I IS VERY interested and Jimi didn't have a down [poor bastard]

A couple people mentioned that both up and down would be cool, and I certainly agree. But I'm not sure that's possible in the tiny pedal format, which is my focus right now - completing that line. Octave up can be done with a simple circuit, so that's where I'll start. Sometimes you can force some ugly spitty octave down by just pushing the hell out of a gain stage without any high-pass filtering on the way in. I may try to do that to fake a down along with the high. We'll see...um..hear.

The Bluebird Fuzz, the thing that started this thread, is actually named after a song!! It's not nearly as popular as Purple Haze, and I don't really advertise it as being able to totally cop the 60s era Stephen Stills fuzz sound. It's just a song I happen to like with a cool fuzz thing going on. That being said, I tend to agree with you on naming a pedal in a way that pigeonholes.
