Brilliant switching system...

This is a prototype I purchased from this guy (http://analogmp.blogspot.com/). It should be here (Florida) from Germany in about two weeks. I didn't want the expense, size or reported popping problem associated with the Carl Martin Octaswitch, and this thing has some really cool options. I think this guy's onto something. Oh, it has a tuner out and a jack for an external switch for completely bypassing the unit.

I'm thinking Hyperion and Sonic Maximizer in loop 1, Aenima and Carbon Copy in loop 2 and Nova Delay and Phase 90 in loop three. Hopefully, I won't have to do so much tap dancing during shows. It get's really confusing when I'm singing, playing complicated guitar parts,and jacking around with ten or so pedals at once. It totally kills any sense of spontaneity and makes me look like a goddamned dork.

Imma demo this as well as the rest of my board one I get it and I can bring myself to stop jumping for joy.

Also, is there such thing as a TB box where you can change the position of an effect?

The switching is done digitally with something about gold plated relays, I'm a mechanical guy. This electrical crap is still voodoo to me. In the first mode, the device operates like a normal loop-master type of unit. Hit a button, the loop is active. In other words, whatever you have plugged into that in/out pair of jacks will be active. Hit another button and it too will turn on, and so on.

In the second mode, hit a button, that loop turns on. Hit another, the first turns off and the second turns on instead. You can still hit the same switch again to completely bypass the unit and get your regular guitar into amp sound. The third mode is solely the tuner out. Tune without having that sucky Boss buffer in your chain and without subjecting your poor audience to harmonic comparison type tuning.

So you'd probably use one of the first two modes predominantly and the tuner mode for when you do one too many push ups on that strat style tremolo. Hold a button, hit a button, mode changed. It's really not that complicated once you understand what he's done. This guy's a frakking genius, and is really nice too. He responds to emails really quickly and I've heard lots of good stuff about his pedals. I'll have a full report when I get it. I made my girlfriend clear the memory in her camera so I have room to make silly demo videos (she's commandeered my jump drive so it's a fair trade).

Sorry if this post is nutty. I've been singing karaoke (Turn the Page, Peaches, Danger Zone, and Whole Hearted by Xtreme which made me feel like a total loser but I'll do anything for a laugh) and drinking for hours.

but some of us have enough trouble remembering switch 1, switch 2 etc without hold for mode 3...

I agree with you there, Mariachi. It's gonna take a little bit of practice. Other than going into tuning mode, though, I don't foresee changing modes on the fly in the middle of a song. Mode one probably won't see a lot of use from me, but it's good to know I have the option. I think if you can remember how to play an entire song on a complicated instrument like a guitar, you can remember what these buttons do. It a CRAP load easier than operating a Nova Delay via the footswitches alone. I gave up on that after a practice or two.

As far as effect ORDER switching, you could always make your own http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/Pe ... itcher.htm I agree with you, that would be pretty neat. Flip flopping fuzzes and wahs and delays could yield some pretty cool combinations on the fly.

As far as the Zvex clones go, I've seen a few people who make em including this guy http://www.willsledgefx.com/ check out the fifth one down. It's pretty damn convincing. Personally, I'd buy a hand painted Fuzz Factory if I could afford it. i can't really so I'm gonna go with a clone. I have a lot of respect for Mr. Vex though. His designs are brilliant and innovative. It's only natural for them to be imitated.

That's what I'm sayin!! You're spot on, man. I don't think it'll take more than five minutes to master using this thing. Ten bucks says I can teach my dog to do it

I know how relatively simple things can compound and be a real bear when you're multitasking though. Rigging the whole thing up will be a little complicated, but we're into pedals here. I love screwing with them and rewiring my pedalboard at least once a week, so this thing is gonna open up a whole new world of that for me. I think It's gonna kick my 535Q off my board so I can make room. When I wah, I end up sounding like Kirk Hammet in a hockey helmet. I'm just not a wah guy I guess. It's hereditary, my father's been playing for fifty years and refuses to own one. I also haev an LPB-1 that sounds cool, but might get sacrificed as well.

You don't ever really have to change modes if you don't want. You could put your tuner in one of the loops with other effects and select that one when you need to use the tuner. Or, you could say screw it and put the tuner outside the whole thing. It might be a little cheaper with just the one mode though.

I'm pretty sure he's an engineer so I can imagine he can make some pretty sick custom stuff; WAY beyond the typical trial and error type loop builders.
