I have lots of muffy fuzz pedals that I use for a great many things. But sometimes I want to sound more hard-edged and metallic like this.
I know he is running an old HM-2 into a JCM800 here. But what are some other pedlulz that could pull of this sound? Perhaps ones that could stack well with my fuzzes too.
DS1 AND DS2. srs though. Ive been trying to ape his shit (specifically hymns) for so long. just turn up LOOOOUD. and let the notes ring bro. Dont try and fuck with a muff cause fragile harmonics and shit...

...BOSS distortions do the metallic edge really good, consider it a booster fueling the tube amp distortion. Other than that, most old fashioned distortion pedals can do it, but with separate hi, lo, and mid range tone controls You can get closer to the exact sound.
And if You use active three way tone control, don't go for stupid things like mid scoop right away just because we're told that's the metal way to do it. You want that midrange for feedbacking crazy and full range gives more presence to Your crunchy slow riffage.

Amen on the not-doing-mid-scoop thing, i had a HM-2 and just turn everything on to max , tune to C put into tube amp distorted to hell and stand back. Actually a cheap dod death metal can do something similar Bizarrely the cheap boss/dod metallic cheap sound that gives it the edge
