I gotta message the Front Office here...I'm not getting e-mail notifies for new posts again (...still?...) - anyone else having this problem?

Respectfully fix'd...and a great song from one of my long-time fave bands (hence, the fix'd bit). That's one of the songs I play @ home to practice improvisations with/for/something.

My bad. As much as I gripe about dadrock I actually enjoyed the hell out of playing that song. There are some old bands out there that I still dig on.

Led Zeppelin :thumb:
Pink Floyd :thumb:
Steely Dan :thumb:
Dire Straits :thumb:
The Who :thumb:

The only unfortunate thing is that most of these guys material has been driven into the ground,...but I guess that just comes with the territory for music that is approaching 50 years old.

Can't say that I ever got into Black Sabbath,...but considering I'm starting to lean towards the sludgier stonier side of aggressive musics,...I should probably start paying more attention.

Zeppelin is at the very top of my all-time fave bands (MAJOR Zeppelin freak here!), followed closely with a tie between Pink Floyd and Yes...then again, my age puts me right in the heart of the dadrock era, I suppose. Sabbath...not so much, but I've never been really into metal, early or nu-, all that much in general. I AM proud of the fact that my 2o year old daughter cites both Neil Young and Primus as some of her favorites, tho...my influences show there.

Foxx Tone Machine clone (octave off) -> Behringer BSY-600 (mode 9) -> Boss OC-2 (oct 1 2:00, dry 3:00, oct 2 9:00) -> Behringer DC-2 clone (switches 3 and 4 engaged) -> (ignore the flanger, it wasn't on) EHX Deluxe Memory Boy

I'll see if I can get a short clip of what it sounded like.

Here's the only clip I grabbed on my PC. All the rest of it is on our band recording laptop that I don't have with me. And the flanger IS on for this one.

I know that's what people keeping telling me but I still don't like them. I've heard The Mollusk too, doesn't really "do" it for me. :idk:

I'd start with the self-titled if you want to dive in, even if Volume 4 is my favoUrite. Master of Reality is often held as the best, but not to me. :idk:

I don't consider bands like Zep and Floyd dadrock. Maybe that's just because my mom introduced me to those bands. :idk:

Trying not to make any gear purchases for 2012, so that's why I just put in a quote request for an Emperor cab. :idk:

I missed my Katanasound Super Bass Fuzz on my board, so it's back again, now I have 3 dirt pedals on there, when I only really need one. :idk:

In all seriousness and IMO, some bands are timeless. Supertramp, for example and while a good band, sounds just so 70's to me; The Rain Song sounds like it could have been released 6 weeks ago.

Agreed on all counts. And man, I fucking adore Supertramp, but they are definitely dadrock. Even though I have yet to spawn. :idk:

Crime Of The Century is an AMAZING album, but I have to admit that Supertramp's tour supporting it was one of the most disappointing concerts I've ever been to...might as well have stayed home and listened to the album, since that's EXACTLY what the show was like - a note-for-note zerox copy, with a two-song encore of material I'd never heard before (or since, for that matter). Whole thing was finished in about 1 1/2 hours, max.

OTOH, I saw Floyd on the 'Pulse' tour (twice), with the 2nd half of the show being DSOTM which still had a few extended jam-like moments (especially with the backing-vocal girls each getting a solo moment during 'The Great Gig In The Sky'). AMAZING show.
