i did some googling but couldnt find a good answer. i know little about electronics. any help would be appreciated and i dont want to replace the whole outlet.
my room has only 2 prong outlets on the wall. my amp has a 3prong plug. i want to use a 3 to 2 prong adapter like this one if i connected that little tab sticking out to a screw in the wooden floorboard running along the wall with a wire, would that ground the amp properly?
Take the screw out of the wall cover, feed the screw through the loop, and tighten back up. You should be grounded then. Depends on the house wiring. In old houses I highly recommend having an AC polarity checker on hand. Actually, this is a good tool to keep in yr gig kit.

If the wire running along the wall goes to ground it will. otherwise no.
