So... What do you do when your YBA-1 isn't loud enough?
Something is horribly horribly wrong here.
My amp was not loud enough at band practice.
My mid 60s YBA-1 that I just bought BARELY kept up with the group at practice.
I was running it with a VHT 2x12 slant cab with vintage 30s and I pushed it to a point where it just kept up, but didn't really have anything left on tap.
I was running it sorta clean/sorta not, but even when I dimed both volumes it didn't help much. It didn't seem to get louder after about 7ish, just more distorted. It just started to get kind of farty too. It sounded absolutely perfect at at 5 or 6.
Yes my band is obscenely loud, but something here doesn't seem right here. My last amp was a 50 watt ENGL Screamer, and it kept up just fine with the same cab. It was a combo with one more speaker, but that's the only real difference. I've had a blues junior cranked to verge of death manage to keep up with them too. It was roughly the same volume, but hey, it's a way smaller amp.
The other dude on geetar runs a 45 Traynor Iron Horse though a 2x12 traynor cab (can't remember what speakers) and the bassist runs a Traynor Bassmaster YBA-200 2 which is 200 watts of insanity through a 1x15 traynor cab and a 2x10 traynor cab. There's a lot, and I mean a lot of power in these setups. (Yes we all use Traynor. It's just a weird coincidence. We're also really Canadian.)
How did I do this/is my amp broken/wat do?
TL;DR: My 45 watt tube amp is too quite at band practice? wat do.

I think you must have gone deaf. Only way to explain why a YBA-1 isn't loud enough.
(You're in Toronto? There's a guy in Stoney Creek that would fix it up for you. I'll drop you his info by PM)

Fuck.
If it's a problem with the amp I'm going to be really pissed.
I seriously just got this thing less than a week ago.
If it's a problem with the amp, what should I do? I will be pretty mad if one or the output tubes blew out. Should I e-mail the dude I bought it off of and tell him?
Also, my other guitar player has the amp right now, so I can't check anything. Goddamn it.

I wouldn't totally flip yer shit yet.
Tubes blow fairly frequently, often times they get damaged in shipping. it's not necessarily the dude who sold it to you's fault
However if you EQ to a crazy scooped tone, the amp being "not loud enough" might just be yer tone not cutting thru

I picked up locally from a dude who said it had just been serviced is the kicker.
I also run my mids crazy high on everything. There's no mids knob on this, but I usually run shit with high mids.
It's legitimately a volume thing.

Hoop hoop whoop boop this. At least a 4X12, I'm fairly certain your definition of "crazy loud" isn't really too loud to me, because the guitar player I'm used to uses two 4x12s for just headroom purposes.

Yeah.
One of my buddies has had a few good experiences with these guys too.
Damn though. So much for getting two amps.
