Guess who's building a IKEA/Gorm pedalboard...

Went to IKEA yesterday morning while my girlfriend and I were in Orlando visiting her family. Grabbed a 30x20 Gorm shelf (among other things) to make myself a pedalboard with. I've been looking at threads (a lot are just Armchair Bronco's build) to get an idea as to what I need to do and such. So far I've gathered that I need two more planks of wood to tilt the board, which I'm sure my father has. The other thing is that I was going to try using pieces of plastic to screw to the bottom of the pedals, as opposed to using velcro. Seems like it'd be cheaper and more secure, albeit more work.

So far I was planning on adding a power strip under the board to hook up my One-Spot (may need to buy another) as well as the supply for my Boomerang. I'm also considering a digital clock and a book light.

My path so far is:
Korg Pitchblack
Boss ODB-3 (thinking about replacing with an And Aardvarks!)
SS/BS TAFM
EHX Freeze
Boss DD-3
TC Flashback Delay
EQD Hummingbird
EQD Grand Orbiter

I also have a BBE Sonic Stomp that I'm on the fence about using. I may sell it and look into getting a compressor. I'm also planning on getting a ring mod, another fuzz (Pharaoh, perhaps) and probably a Chk Chk Boom for the Flashback.
I'm not planning on mounting the Boomerang to the board just so if I don't need it, I won't have to bring it. If I get a Sidecar, I'll probably just build a different board for it.

I'll post pictures once I can get started in a couple of days. Until then, are there any suggestions? Tips on how to approach it, or things I should add?

Don't make it recessed, i.e. putting more wood around the board. It's hard to access the footswitches that way, imo. And if you're looking for a muff, get a musket v2. DO IT. And what do you mean hummingbird delay, isn't that a trem? Not trying to bust your balls just trying to get a clear picture.

I didn't mean to put delay at the end of that. I'm not sure what I was thinking. Getting excited for dinner I guess. Anyway, I think I have an idea as to what you mean about it being recessed. I'm just planning on adding wood to the back to make it sit at an angle.

I've never really considered the Musket, although I've heard good things about it. I'm a bass player, so I have to make sure I can get my super fat bottom bass tonez in tact. Hence me wanting to get the AA!

Oh yeah having it at an angle would be nice, having the pedals lokking at you. the musket can do many muff sounds very well, just sayin!

+1. My pedal...box is like this, and while it's not that big of a deal, you should spare yourself the inconvenience. I have to angle certain pedlulz to be more ergonomic.

Yeah I gotcha. Yeah, I wasn't planning on turning it into a box. If I wanted to put a case on it, I'd build one, or get a keyboard bag or something.

Update time:

I still have started. But! I did take a picture of my pedals (so far) and how I was planning on laying them out.



As you can see, I need about four more pedals for it to look right, which I'm working on. I just bought a BAT Pharaoh, and I have a BBE Sonic Stomp that I've been on the fence about using. Then there's whatever ring mod I may end up getting, and the MASF Possessed. So theoretically I'm set (not). The bottom row I was thinking about using for a by-pass loopers or similar things like that. Utility pedals, basically. I also need to look into another power unit. Probably a One-Spot, although at this point it seems plausible to look into a power brick of some kind (I like how the Team Telsa sounded).

I'm in Orlando with my girlfriend's family at the moment, and I'll be heading back home tomorrow, so maybe I can finally get to work on this. I'm still trying to decide what I want to paint it. While I'm down here, we went to IKEA today and, oh hey...

I so seriously want to mount these to the bottom of the board. Especially if I can figure out a way to have a my sound control the voltage for the lights. So any suggestions for that are welcomed.

I found that the shelf arms that IKEA sells work well for a raised back. and the pre-drilled holes make for good zip tie anchor points.
