I've got an OC-2 for synthy-esque sounds, and I use a whammy for the wacked-out lightning-bolt-y stuff.

That Copilot pedal wasn't for me. I hit it and quit it quick. Too glitchy, it was really picky about where you played, it didn't like the D and G string. It had some sweet ideas but not good execution. I was like, How does Sterling make it sound like that? Oh yeah, that's Sterling. I have good Octave technique so it wasn't me and I talked to 2 other people that played/owned one for a couple of days too.
I keep the MXR BOD on my board, mine tracks great. I can get a solid octave on the low F on E string for 4 seconds. I have heard some people talk about having trouble with the tracking on theirs. I also have the one on my M5, it's pretty nice too.
I had an OC2, I liked it but didn't love it. The MXR could get close to it and it has a cleaner octave sound if it want as well.

I really like comp >analog oct>od>fuzz>pog. I prefer the low analog octave and the digital upper, unless it's my octave fuzz which is more just for shrilling tones.
Also I agree the Bass Octaver in the M9 is surprisingly amazing. Very musical and organic sounding.

yah. my only complaint about the M9's octaver is what i have a problem with most toanz out of that box...... too much politeness. i love mine, and it's worth the space for all the bases it covers..... but i've been playing around with it in the middle of my signal chain instead of at the end so that it has some stuff after it to give it some balls.
but yeah. i'm happy enough with the M9's octo that i sold my Aggy Octo. never thought i'd do that.

I agree with that. You can't go way over the top with the M9, but I guess that's kind of the nature of digital vs. analog. The distortions sound good but there is something weird about a lot of them that I can't really name. It not that they sound fake, maybe just not harsh enough? I don't know.

Well they just programmed it not to go over the top I guess, there are enough over the top digital pedals..
My octaver is the Boss OC-2, it was my second pedal I had, works for me, love the glitchyness, makes the Bazz Fuss I made sound huge!

DOD octoplus is rad! Fuzz->octoplus=rust never sleeps, octoplus->fuzz->phaser is synthy and just awesome.

I personally like fuzz -> octave, but both ways are fun.
What's your favs?
..this is another one of those "Oh hey, I should just get a Pitchfactor" things, I know. But humor me!
And just to be clear, we're talking octave DOWN.
OD > Octave > Fuzz for me.
I was thinking the exact opposite. I reaaaaaaally like fuzz -> OD (i.e. 4545 and/or TAFM -> FUCK), and some octave before my Xerograph would be hellza awesome

tbh i havent decided yet.
either way kinda negates the octave on my superfuzz. but one way gives it this REALLY nice synthy tone id expect out of the Bit Commander.
