Envelope filter, with an effects loop. So the filtering is applied after the effects, but the envelope is taken from the clean signal. Shit would sound absurdly dope with fuzz. I dunno if this has been done; I figure, if it has, someone on here has it. EDIT: apparently lots of pedals do this. Okay, new idea. Pedal with an input and output, that doesn't do anything on its own, but has an envelope follower that outputs an expression/CV signal. ANY PEDALS THAT DO THAT, SMART GUYS?
Second one, and this is a little esoteric, so bare with me: what if you split off a guitar signal, and sent one side to a really loud, distorted amp right next to you, and sent the other to a clean amp in an iso booth, then mic'd the clean one? You'd get all that tasty feedback and sustain from the distorted amp, but the recording'd be totally clean. I have no idea what that'd sound like, maybe sorta ebow-ish, but way more fun?
Go, post your idle gear daydreams.
