I'm trying to get past just barring open chords. Or droning one note while sliding up and down one string. What's your thought process when it comes to playing in these tunings? Specifically writing or improvising. Are there any good songs in alternate tunings that might have tabs available that demonstrate this? (I like to learn by example). Sonic Youth comes to mind. I know I've learned to play along with Teen Age Riot in the past, but I never could figure out how on earth they came up with that.

I've been playing in alt tunings for almost as long as I've been playing guitar. My personal favorite is E-A-B-G-B-C a nice blend of standard and atonal sounds with this one.

I feel so young.
Its so weird man i saw floor back when the ST came out when they were getting BOOED OFF STAGE and i went to all the reunion shows in atl to packed ass crowds and youd think it would be young kids dickriding but it was more like guys 15 yrs older than me telling steve that the show that night changed their view on music and shit. Made me feel old and young at the same time.
Although ill say....having floor absolutely break down the walls of what i though heavy was supposed to be while simultaneously getting booed and having shit thrown at them....it taught me a lesson in 30 mins that takes some a lifetime. From that point on i didnt give a FUCK who thought what about anything i did. The more i got booed, the better i thought i was getting at what i was trying to do. If people dont like work you feel proud of....do it to the point where they are fucking violently opposed to it. To the point where you have to fight every last motherfucker in the club just to finish your set. Thats success.
Dude that was off topic as FUCK.
Also i tune to S-P-A-C-E
