Played my violin through an Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi reissue that belonged to a friend today.
Jesus.
So. The great fuzz hunt begins.
I like that thick, swampy tone. I was running it with the Tone knob generally in the counter clockwise region, and the sustain quite the opposite. Monstrous sounding. So anybody I should check out? The Muff had it's problems. Not enough to stop me getting one and playing it non stop, but yeah. Who else should I gander at.

Borrow more pedals and don't spend on anything until you find one you absolutely love.

I saw this picture of Hendrix, all he used was a wah.... And not even the Jim Dunlop Jimi Hedrix wah, just some old thing.....
Jimi didn't realise the horrible tone suck we had to listen to every time he used that wah.
I know it's gonna be weird to hear, but I really dug the defunct FH Chalice when it was still around. The ss/bs TAFM is also a pretty raditudinal fuzz box full of versatile noises. Of course I've had a lot of fun messing around with an EQD Dreamcrusher.
Just gotta keep trying 'em out to see which one works best for you.
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?
Current ILF Love: OHNOHO CHK CHK BOOM, Mellowtone Melx Fuzz 2, EQD Dream Crusher, Devi Ever ID, Dr. Scientist Proto-Miniberator - new vids eventually
You could spend a lot of time and money on muff clones alone. The Dwarfcraft Devices Eau Claire Thunder for me is about at the top of the heap if we are talking muffs and muffkillers. My favorite stock muffs are the old green Sovteks. Favorite muff clone is the Thunder cloud by Katana Sound.
