Re: Um so...
I would never ever do that just because of how long its taken me to accumulate all my shit, but sometimes it is fun to reflect and think of what I would do differently and which pedal can replace pedal a, b and c on my board

Re: Um so...
I have thought about it before. Sell everything except my jaguar and buy a really nice bass/guitar amp, like a JTM45/bassman clone or something. But since I'd just end up slowly getting pedals again, I don't really see the point? Plus pedals are fun.

Like i sort of wonder if i wouldn't be happier going into like a tuner and a overdrive or single utilitarian fuzz into a 1 knobbed amp.
I don't consider selling it all and starting over but i consider consolidating my gear for live shows. I'm currently contemplating Guitar -> Tuner -> Dual Channel Fuzz -> Delay -> Amp (simple single clean channel 5 knob amp ATM). The only thing holding me back is i like having 2 delays w/ reverb, one analog voiced with massive dwell and long repeats for clean stuff, and one digi voiced with short dwell and quick repeats for solo's. Finding a single pedal that will allow me to switch between those has been challenging (i'm not buying a timeline...)
But it really boils down to what you need to make the music you want to create. If you don't need chorus, phasers, and delays then by all means don't use them (less signal path to your amp means cleaner signal). In one of my bands i really only need fuzz and delay, in my other band i NEED 2 delay's atleast 1 fazer and atleast 2 fuzz pedals because i'm experimenting with using the effects board as an instrument in its self

Re: Um so...
I have done this.
I am on my 3rd set up now, I have bought 3 4x10's (this includes the items I have now) 1 8x10, 1 solid state amp, up too 7 basses and about 20 or so pedals thus far.
What has made me the happiest is the fact that I am doing / playing something that I am into. The metal bands that I was in, I never really was into for the most part, I love to b/s/t because I can chase so many different sounds and just fuck with my tone all day long.
Keep what you have, because as I have found out, you will never be completely happy with the gear you have and that's ok. Too many cool toys out there.

Nope. But I can see why one would.
That said, I did just go through a massive retooling of my live board that did involve selling a bunch of stuff and buying a bunch of stuff... but definitely not reducing the overall amount of fx.
And THAT said, I could see having a project that involved me just playing clean or through one or two pedals... but I can't imagine doing that for all of my music. Just one side project. That played out once a year. Maybe.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Re: Um so...
about once every 2 years I think about unloading everything I own and just getting one really nice accoustic, plus possibly a pickup truck.
Not sure I ever will but I get tempted once in a while.
10 guitars 2 basses 6 amps and 40+ pedals and you have to wonder what it would be like to go back to some minimalism.
Fotunately now I have a really sweet alvarez jumbo so I am much less tempted to do something crazy.

I couldn't do it because I have such a shit time selling stuff. Apparently I like buying stuff that no one else likes buying. I end up settling for a fraction of the price and it wouldn't leave me with enough money to rebuild a setup. Plus I'm just about to a point where I absolutely adore everything I own and would just buy it over again. Only thing that I eventually hope to upgrade is my Hot Rod Deluxe, which honestly is too much amp for me anyway, I don't know what I would do with a Twin Reverb or anything.

Re: Um so...
I like to pretend I've done this sometimes and just plug in to my amp with one fuzz in the chain. But I really haven't felt like doing that so much since I've consolidated my board down to a pt nano.
Part of the reason I just spent a fourth of my yearly income on a new synthesizer is because I missed a lot of those sounds I could get out of a big pedalboard. When I was running a big board I was treating the guitar more like a controller for a synthesizer, so I figured I may as well get a good synth instead of building up a massive board again. That said, I still can't shake the feeling that sometimes I need a giant pedalboard.

Re: Um so...
I did it. I started off pretty strong and next thing you know I'm buying shit for drums.
I'll restart my board again at another time.
If you're tired of your shit, do it.

Re: Um so...
Yepp, I'm kind of in the process now.
Sold off most of the pedals I had a month ago and now I'm considering selling both my electrics (or possibly replacing my bass).
I'll probably have some regrets, already wish I didn't sell that cheap digitech phaser I had, it would have worked quite well with the electronic set up I'm going for now.
Live & learn.

You know, I would totally buy that Great Destroyer of yours if I didn't just buy a baby thundaa for the same price. D= Someone will jump on that thing eventually.
I haven't considered it because for the most part my gear is shit and no one would want it. For now...

Re: Um so...
Unloaded almost all of my noisemaking stuff, and most of my pedals and amps, both for money and simplicity. More toys did not = more music, so I am attempting to keep things lean and mean, and I will add things back in as I see fit, but I need to start writing more and stop dicking around so much. I don't think there is a perfect amp for me, there will always be pedals in my setup and that's fine.
Good deals on ILF: too many to list, just ask!

Someone teach me how to sig this! EDIT- I learned something new today
I think once in a while you realize the gear you own isn't useful for the musical direction you are heading in. Of course that's stupid if the musical direction doesn't require at least 2 fuzz pedals.
