MOUNTAINKING ELECTRONICS - MAGNETAR

INPUT: This controls the strength of the signal going into the pedal. It affects the sensitivity of the gating and also influences the texture of the fuzz, it will also have a affect on the saturation of the fuzz especially when the INTENSITY control is at lower settings.

INTENSITY: This controls the stauration of the fuzz. This control is interactive with the INPUT control so you will want to experiment with different combinations of settings of the two controls.

SLOPE: This allows you to adjust the high/low frequency balance. Turning the knob to the left cuts highs and adds lows.

NOTCH: This cuts midrange as you turn the knob to the left.

NOTCH SHIFT: This changes the cut-off frequency of the NOTCH CONTROL. Its effect is most noticeable when the NOTCH control is turned to the left and will have very little, if any, effect when the NOTCH control is turned all the way to the right. NOTE: When switching from one position to another you may notice a pop sound, this is normal and will be most noticeable if you are playing while switching positions. This is not an issue that can be resolved without altering the tone of the pedal.

NOTE: The SLOPE, NOTCH and NOTCH SHIFT controls are very interactive with one another and adjust the parameters of filter section which shapes the tone of the pedal. You can get a wide range of tones and textures by spending time experimenting with different settings.

OUTPUT: This is the volume control.

ENGAGE: This footswitch allows you to engage or bypass(true bypass) the effect/circuitry of the pedal.

As with all Mountainking Electronics devices, the Magnetar is built with high quality parts and components using point to point circuit construction to help ensure years of reliability.

The Magnetar can be powered by a 9v battery or a standard 9vdc (center negative) power supply. If you choose to use a battery to power the pedal remember to unplug the instrument/guitar cable from the input jack when not in use to help conserve battery life. To access the battery clip remove the 4 screws near the rubber feet on the bottom plate. Be careful not to pull on wires when attaching or unattaching battery from battery plug. If you choose to use a power supply to power the pedal be sure that it is of high quality and is filtered to avoid hum and noise.

To me the Megalith is more versatile.
With some tweaking you can get a lot of the tones you'd get with the Heavy Machine from the Megalith.
Also, for me the Megalith has that "fuzz I hear in my head" quality on bass.

I do believe I will go with the Heavy Machine. The amount of extra features of the Megalith Would probably get wasted on me. Besides, all going well of course, it will be sharing with a Baby Tundaa and Bluebeard. So "more heavy" will not be an issue.

If you send bennybanana (memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=4297)
a PM he should be able to provide a little more info on the Heavy Machine. He also has/had a Megalith so he should be able to compare the two.
I traded mine to him and as far as I know he really likes it. I really liked it too, it just wasn't working with my setup at the time.

Well, my Heavy Machine has mutated into a Bog Beast, then comes a Behemoth  Oh god.
Hey Jero, how much did the Behemoth set you back? You you wanted to use it as a preamp into a power amp, when you try that, let me know how it goes.

It was about $200 shipped. Most of Alan's pedals are right around there, minus the megalith. Once I borrow someones amp I'll let you know. Considered getting another one, but have Alan add a boost to the front, or a secondary gain pot/switch, so I can use it always on, then stomp it again for the growls. I could always do the secondary gain thing myself, but I'm not screwing with the proto. That's something that always attracted me to the Tronographic Rusty Box, having that boost switch.

You're the man! I doubt you will be disappointed, though I haven't tried it. I had to grab the huge box proto from bst myself.

I am hoping the Behemoth makes my SVT sound like it's oozing molten rock I've messed around with a few things until "operation secret awesome thing" is completed this could be my salvation.
The rusty box wasn't guttural enough for me too bright no raunch.
