So I was totally shorted a 2.2 k resistor and the pedal won't work with out it apparently. Will be going to Radio Shack tomorrow to get one. Hopefully everything else is good though. lol. It's super frustrating to sit there and solder the whole thing up and realize I'm missing something so small.

Okay so I put this together according to plan, but when I plug into a 1spot all the other pedals lose power, as if this is sucking energy. I plug it into its own adaptor and the starve knob began to smoke. Did I just mess the ics up or what?

I put the 2.2k resistor on the board for the led on the spot marked for it and wired the power jack to the led. Is that my problem?

Okay I had my dc jack wired wrong. Now, am I suppose to put a 2.2k resistor in the rled spot AND one between the power jack and led? If so, I'm short a 2.2k resistor too.

Where I'm at: I get the bypass signal, my bypass led lights up when engaged, but only glitchy sounds come out and my octave switch does nothing nor light up.

I got my kit this week and put it together right away. It was my first build, but I had bought the TGD kit and watched my engineering friend put it together.
As with the others, I was short a 2.2k resistor, but I figured this would just keep that LED for working.
When I fired it up the first time, it worked! I was super excited and very proud of myself, and this thing is cool.
I tried it once more, and it worked fine, but the next day, I opened the box to show the aforementioned engineering friend, and then when I closed it up and powered it on to show him, to my surprise, I could only get a small amount of overdrive out of it, but no octave effect. Also, the starve knob no longer starved the circuit, but was operating almost like a tone knob, when I turned it down, I lost all my high end, but it wasn't doing anything else.
Not sure what I did wrong here, or why it would work, but then stop working. Could this be because of the missing resistor for the LED?
Any ideas would be appreciated, as I admittedly don't know what I'm doing here.

I'm sure this looks horrible to you guys, but like I said, this is my first ever build. So, yeah, I realize its probably not the best job ever, but for the life of me, I can't figure this out!

are your led working?? It should not if they don't have resistor, in fact they'd blow. also, perhaps the Ics are damaged. not using sockets for them can cause some damage from the heat.

There is a resistor for the octave stomp, and that LED does work, the other doesn't, and I assume it is blown, so I ordered a resistor for it and a replacement LED. As for the ICs, my engineering friend told me I didn't need the sockets unless I was planning to switch out the ics, so I skipped them, because I trusted he knew what he was talking about, I guess that may have been a mistake. I've only had it plugged in for maybe 10 minutes tops, and it literally was something where it worked the first time I had it plugged in for about 5 minutes, then didn't after that. I suppose I could probably order new ICs and give that a shot with the sockets this time?

IIRC, one LED's resistor is board mounted, and the other you have to put in between the power and the LED. Everybody be sure and check your packaging for missing resistors, these kits were triple checked before they went out.

you could do that but i swear to god, it will mess your board if you try to remove the ics. you will probably damage the little solder pad.....look into the TGD building thread, you'll see a pic of a broken solder pad on a pcb.

Yeah, after I said that I realized there was probably no way I'd be able to get the ICs back out. I guess I'll do some more fiddling about. I may try to rewire everything and see what happens
