I have the same question, but more in the 100-200 range and with a headphone jack. So SS, I guess.
I have the Frontman 25R, and it's passable for a practice amp, but does not take pedals well at all. It has some unique, noisy tones of it's own, though.
I can also attest to the Vox TVs not being great with fuzz, at least my 4 watt mini was not. They sound lovely on their own, though.

Dude, check out the new Acoustic Lead series amps, way better than any other "cheap" (low cost not low quality) SS amp out there.

Look for Traynor Guitar Mates or Bass Mates. $15-$50 used, headphones jack, and works great with all my fuzz, including two stacked with a lot of volume boost. If you get a Guitar Mate, look for one with gain + volume knobs, not the push button gain. They both sound better if you mod them for speaker jacks and plug into a real speaker.

Also old Marshall Lead 12's and Lead 15's, both came in combo and the cute lil' amphead versions.
