kosta those look wild!

My sovtek could really use new caps and tubes too, half the reason buying new is so nice.

That's part of why I thought vht in the first place, very easy to swap tubes, no tech work needed, just not sure how it'll take pedals.

I live in a small 2 1/2 appartment.
I'm sure my neighbours hear my noise, but no complaints yet.

I'm using a Bogner Duende 1 X 12 combo... but they are expensive.

I can also recommand a Mesa/Boogie Express 5:25.

Thanks man! The Matamp Minimat into the Gas Can is pretty rad. Not much of a "clean tone" though. :)

It actually has some great tones, unless you want to play with overdrive/fuzz/distortion pedals.

Kosta, the rehouse and speaker enclosure are sweet!

I rehoused this solid state Traynor Guitar Mate 10 to look like a pine box Bass Master. It's a good sounding amp, with a powerful eq & interactive gain and volume. Nice overdrive gain sounds, not hissy distortion, and the volume is all clean with the gain dialed off. Great with pedals, esp fuzzrite clone, a meathead (anything that adds a good pre amp), and the mighty Boss HM-2 for the death-grind jamz. Sounds killer through a good 1x12 cab, and loud as hell through a 2x12 or 4x12.

I tried the digital/modeling thing for home use (Fender Mustang III) and just wasn't happy with the way it sounded taking pedals, so it's getting flipped.

Obviously it needs to sound good with pedals. Really, I only need a good foundational clean tone, from there I can take care of everything else off the board.

I've heard great things about the VHT Special 6 Ultra, but my only concern would be clean headroom.

Anybody play one? Or have recommendations for other sweet little tube amps?

Yeah I was kind of trying to avoid spending 2 grand on my home amp.

Also generally I've found that the advice on ILF is of the "no bullshit" variety which I greatly prefer to the general whiny snobbery that goes on at TGP.

You guys are great!

Alright, so quick update, managed to trade the Mustang for VHT Special 6 plus some cash this morning.

6 watts can be crazy loud! But! Plenty of clean headroom for apartment playing, seems to respond well to my fuzz love I've been giving it so far, much better than the old amp. Really digging the simplicity.

More info when I've played it more.

Awesome! :joy: Those amps look pretty nice for home practice/recording actually, I've contemplated buying one before... Demo possibilities? :poke:
