hello,
I've been trying to debug my great destroyer without success :/

I've got the bypass sound, I've got the LED on when the pedal is on but no sound except on specific spots of the pots where I've got high pitched hisses.

Also when I touch the solder under the IC, I can hear brutal hisses that change pitch when I turn the knobs.

I really double checked everything, can somebody tell me what I've done wrong?

Thanks

maybe if you post some pics of your build it will be easier to try to find out your issue.

ok this is my first image poste attempt, I hope it will work.

I wired the TGD exactly like shown on the gutshot posted by fuzzmax (it was pretty much how I figured it out too).

The resistor for the LED is 1k. I took away the PCB stand to be able to check the solder job.

In my opinion, the wiring is ok, could a part could be damaged :?:

You said that you followed your build on mine! haven't you receive the instruction sheet with your kit?? double check your solder (and i suggest you reheat them on the switch they cause most of the time the issues are there). also check your connection on both jacks. and from my experience, i always mixed up some connection so triple check the building plan and what goes where (wiring). good luck!

thanks!

yes I did recieved the instructions!
I drew a "clearer/bigger" one to work with , but the wiring layout I came up with was like yours.
I tried to make the solder as clean as possible, but I think it might come from that. I'll try to resolder the switch entirely and maybe use a 16 pin socket for the IC instead of two 8 pin ones.

So does the LED work and you're just getting static or no sound at all? Is it bypassing?

Check all your solder points. I rechecked mine and found a couple of not so good connection that literally just needed a bit more solder on them.

Hey all! This is my first post, and I figured I had better show off my finished TGD build since this thread was super helpful to me in the process. Check it:

I gotta say, Dwarfcraft is stinkin' awesome! I can't believe what a bargain this kit is. I really hope word gets out about it, because this would be a great first build for anyone who likes weird fuzz boxes.

I'm already starting to contemplate some mods... Anyone done anything interesting? One thing I need to go back and fix is that the TRS jack I used for the output should be wired so that it actually disconnects the power. Once that is done, I'll add a battery clip as an option to power it. The reason for using the TRS jack on the output instead of the input (as on most pedals) is that I stumbled upon an old video of Aen describing how he started using the output jack for switching so that you could unplug your guitar cable and plug in an expression pedal to the input jack to make all sorts of weird noises. Seems like a fun idea, but I haven't tried it yet...

Hi all!
I really enjoy following this thread and it helped me a lot putting together my own TGD.
But, I fucked up. Big time.

I finished soldering everything and tried it out - it sounded really bad, only hiss and chopper sounds.
I looked it over again and decided to re-solder the starve pot cables on the PCB since it looked like they overlaped.
I made some stupid mistakes and the solder pad came off on both sides from no. 1 point and it looks like this now:

PCB front
PCB front

PCB back
PCB back

I played around with the no.1 cable from the starve pot and if I just ground it or stick it to the tone pot point no.1 it works pretty damn good.
Does anyone know if this can be fixed or can I just ground it as I did?

i would say that if it works well the way you fixed it, then let it that way! There is no way that this can be fix anyway! The same happened to me with an original TGD. it sucked!

If you need a new PCB, just email us and we can send you another one for a couple bucks.
